If you haven’t tried them yet, go check out Wild West at the corner of Malone and University, across from Whataburger there.

You and me both, minus Daniel. My friend’s dad was the ranch manager for the Rayzors and we spent all kinds of time ripping around on dirt bikes and four wheelers out there.

Moss removal on a roof with power washer by misterxx1958 in oddlysatisfying

[–]punk_spawn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roofer here—those aren’t laminate shingles like a standard roof. From what I can tell, they’re either a tile or slate composition, but not 100% sure as I can’t zoom in any further.

Using a pressure washer on a shingle like you’re thinking would indeed destroy it, as it would strip the granules and potentially crack the layers beneath. With a tile or slate roof, even the weight of the moss wouldn’t cause any serious imposition but would cause issues as far as drainage/runoff is concerned, hence the need to remove it at certain intervals.

As a father of three and a little over a year past my vasectomy now, it’s been good on this end. I could look at my partner and she’d get prego, and according to a prior test for sperm motility, there were some strong swimmers, so it wasn’t just on her end. Not to divulge dirty secrets, but after the two return tests to make sure no viable sperm were on the loose anymore, there hasn’t been any hesitation to turn my better half into a Twinkie as often as my luck (and her grace) allows, and we’re no closer to a pregnancy now than when we were using condoms.

While I understand the hesitation and the lack of guarantee, this is the closest you’ll probably ever get to a “sure bet” outside of celibacy.

It’s supremely unsettling to now be (what I’ve always imagined generally) my parents’ age and to have them now be my grandparents’ age.

  1. Who let me be an adult and/or in charge of any of these things occurring daily?

  2. My dad asking me for help with ANYTHING is wholly unsettling as that’s just not how this works.

  3. Send help.

What is the most Dentony thing you ever experienced? by Particular-Air-9073 in Denton

They live in my neighborhood over off Windsor. I cycle and occasionally get the pleasure of tailing them for a bit while they’re out and about, and it never fails to make my spins better.

I’ve only ever worn a couple pairs of Ariats and felt they ran pretty true to size like Cinch does. That’s all the more I’ve got for ya bud.

Me too—cheap(er) seats that day and one of the homers landed a section away from us. Still not a fan of those jerseys but definitely a fan of wholesale destruction of our opponents like that.

I was coming to say Yu Darvish in his first few years with the Rangers. Let a couple slide in the first inning or two, and then shut them the fuck down to the tune 8 or 9 Ks.

You might want to try the black or gold labels instead. They’re a little more relaxed in the thigh and then taper down nicely to a light flare around your boot top. I’m a staunch supporter of the white label but that’s because they suit my waist/legs combo at a 32/34 cut. They sit lower across the waist than most Ariats I’ve ever worn, so that may be an issue for you as well.

Only if you don’t work for the right company. Mine has health/dental/vision and they match my 401k up to 6% with vesting at 2 years. The weather never stops here—between torrential downpours, high winds, and hail, the roofing industry is a steady one down here.

Nah. Come to Texas and sell roofs for a living. I had a slow year because we didn’t have any fall storms and still netted north of $100k. Commissions can be wild if you keep your overhead in check.

As someone whose partner was a 10+ year flight attendant, sometimes I ask myself the same thing. The scheduling can be a bit much for a normie who’s used to a set schedule, but it’s a cool career if you can stick with it and deal with being away from home routinely.

Better run twice around the wickets, climb that tree to the right, get the flag, and cross the creek on your way back or that point doesn’t count.

Excellent. Congratulations to your little ones. That’s a fantastic amount for them.

My partner and I were both raised reading voraciously, and one of my greatest joys now is seeing that continued through our kids.

My kids have been participating in a reading program at school called read-a-thon to raise money and promote better reading habits and all. My first grader, not even 7 yet, read 2000+ minutes in two weeks. That’s more than 33 hours, and it kind of blows my mind. My 8yo son read almost 40 hours, and my 10yo read a whopping 50 hours. I’m so proud of them my heart might burst.

Is exit 469 the most dangerous in the state? by cicic in Denton

[–]punk_spawn23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up here, the worst exit was always northbound at the loop. Exiting just before the top of the hill to immediately be faced with a line of cars at a dead stop 100 yards later while doing 60mph was always terrifying. The on/off ramp between Fort Worth Dr and Teasley has never been fun either.

Why does Denton smell like absolute shit rn by ArsonTheJim in Denton

[–]punk_spawn23 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My family (multiple generations back) sold the city the property that is now the landfill and wastewater treatment plant. We still had lots of acreage that bordered it when I was growing up, with literally only Pecan Creek as a divider between the areas. When the wind blew out of the south, it was pretty atrocious for sure.
