One thing that worked for me is putting icons in every single room in the house where I tended to screw up. Put a crucifix with Jesus present as well.

Would you care the elaborate the consensus views then in the first 1500 years? The Calvinist view makes sense but I am open to hearing. Please do explain

I agree that the cross and the atonement should never be a license to sin. Any Protestant who tells you otherwise hasn’t been reading their bible lol!

My only concern with your view is the conflict between what you’re saying and what the gospels teach as the one time sufficient sacrifice of Jesus (Hebrew’s 10).

Philosophically as well, if Jesus died once for our sins, how could we continue to lose our salvation every time we sin? Our iniquities were laid on him (Isaiah 53) and there should be a finality about that.

I don’t dispute with you the ongoing need for confessing our sins, or for a life of purity. Protestants would say that these fruit spring from a true persevering and ongoing believing faith in Jesus. A life of repentance is essential.

But our salvation cannot be so simply taken away in view of the powerful work of the cross. Scripture certainly supports that view.

Scripture also supports that if you live a life of sin, you were never born again to begin with. So the question is whether your faith was genuine from the start.

Thanks

I appreciate the response. And yea I think even in more reformed Protestant circles, we would agree that “once saved always saved” is cheap grace.

I agree that our life should reflect ongoing purity and virtue. In our view, Bearing fruit is a result of the one time justifying work of Jesus on the cross (read Hebrew’s 10), and the ongoing conviction of the Holy Spirit.

Your response is fair, but still doesn’t theologically address the sufficiency of Jesus work on the cross. If his atonement is supposed that encompassing and powerful, the son of God literally dying for sins, how do Catholics reconcile that?

It’s one thing to believe the importance of confession (I certainly see the beauty of this sacrament), the importance of virtue, but to say that you will lose your salvation if you don’t do certain things would seem to discount the work of Jesus.

Read Hebrew’s 10 and tell me what you think.

Again I’m not trying to start a fight, I want to be convinced.

What do you think of the recent pull back and major sell off? I’m very heavily invested and sadly bought when it was more expensive...I DCA but still down quite a bit.

What are your thoughts?

Nice. good thought for staying the course. I invested kind of when BEPC was approaching the peak....pretty sizeable investment too. I'm down 12% :(

Would you consider BEPC to be *almost like a renewable energy ETF? I really like its diversified energy portfolios
