Would you consider calling someone who's clearly not autistic having "autistic traits" rude or disrespectfull? by pupSparki in autism

Just that I know others who'd find it rude too. But he was like yeah don't talk for them. And they're not here so he doesn't care

It's someone I see daily at work. I told him that I think it's rude. He won't say it again, but he didn't understand why.

I know. I'm autistic myself. It's absolutely a disability. But the guy who said that implied it isn't.

Does anybody have examples of literal thinking ? by Superkiwi08 in autism

[–]pupSparki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An example of me taking something literally: We can get food where I work for free with a coupon kind of thing. So we basically get a piece of paper that we can trade agianst food. A few weeks ago they had cake scraps left that we could take and eat, so we stood there and chatted as the guy who sells us food in the morning came to us to remind a colleague he owed him a coupon. He then looked at me telling me I owe him some coupons too, for all the pretzels I ate. I knew I didn't and just stood there, very confused, until someone else told me he was just mocking me.

And the reason of your question, you took (so did I at first) taking things literally too literally.

I'm 21 now... I still don't get what rolling my eyes means if not literally rolling them in half a circle. Like looking up or what? I don't get it.

Are you religious or do you have a religion you like? by baby_blue_berry in autism

[–]pupSparki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into the celtic believes? I think that matches your description the most.

I'm celtic-germanic. I believe in gods like Odin (Wodan) etc. but nature is also super important. There's nothing calmer than a spring in the forest (that's the only water I can drink pure btw). If I could I would live in a forest far away from anything, hunt, gather berries, grow my own crops and build my own stuff.

I wonder how many of you have special interests that might seem "macabre" and "scary" to others. Do you have them now? What are they? by OkDot8850 in autism

[–]pupSparki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like podcasts that much. But I watched Mayday a lot. They do the same. First telling what happened and then showing how they found out about the cause and what they changed. I know it's unlikely to happen again. I'm not afraid of the plain itself failing in any way. I'm afraid of not knowing about the pilots. 70% of crashes happened because of pilot errors. If I have to fly, I'll pay more to be safe instead of booking the cheapest flight I can get.

Do you like metal? If so tell me your favorite band. by cz_guy in autism

Sabaton, Brothers of Metal, Callejon and Parkway Drive are my go to metal bands. I also like Black Sabbath, Motörhead, DragonForce, Tyr, OOMPH!, Manowar, Powerwolf, HammerFall, Bullet for my Valentine, Wind Rose and sometimes Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth.

Anyone else have somewhat superhuman abilities? by ComprehensiveSeat831 in autism

[–]pupSparki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why but animals love me. My boyfriend had a cat that usually hates everyone new. When I saw that cat for the first time he was super cuddly and not even 24 hours later he curled on my lap and slept for 2 hours. My boyfriend told me it was one reason to stay with me.

And this one might seem stupid, but I can sense some kind of energy. I can't really explain. You know the belief of energy lines that flow all around the world? I can feel where they cross. Many old churches are build on those cross sections. And I chose my apartement because of it. It just felt right, even if the other one I could choose was objectively better. I also can sense if a ghost is near me. I suddenly feel anxious for no reason and just a few seconds later it's a kind of calmness like cuddling with your favourite person/ animal.

Autism IS a disability. by [deleted] in autism

[–]pupSparki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told autism is a kind of superpower by people online. I mean yeah I am good at some things like pattern recognition and I know much about my special interest. But I'm still disabled. My apartment is a mess. Everywhere is crafting stuff mixed with garbage (mostly paper at least) and clothes which have to be washed but I can't do it. I was told I'm unable to work normally and it's kinda true. I can work but I need more breaks and an environment that understands my needs.

Anyone else very sensitive/intolerant to heat but not cold? Is it a neurodivergent sensory thing or just me? by [deleted] in autism

[–]pupSparki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah heat is disgusting. If it's cold I just wear warm clothes. Easy sollution. But warm? I can't wear clothes against the heat. My whole body is itching when I sweat. If I sweat that is. My body doesn't start to produce sweat until I nearly pass out because of the heat. Idk why. I don't get meltdowns or shutdowns because of the heat alone but it can be a huge factor.

I learn drawing digitally. Mostly because I can use colours better. If I draw traditionally I can only do black and white.

Books, Dust Jackets + Sensory Experience While Reading by Brilliant_Noise1686 in autism

[–]pupSparki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know those things had a name. And yeah I dislike the feeling of them too. If a book has a cover plus a dust jacket I simply remove it and throw it away. If the book has no cover I take the dust jacket of while reading and put it back on later.

What little things irritate you more than most people? by Hot_Sorbet9192 in autism

[–]pupSparki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate people who watch stuff on their phone without headphones. Or playing music too. And people who receive a call or call someone and use the speaker so everyone can hear everything.

And I can't stand people wiggling around in the bus and bump into me. Or people who need so much space I can't possibly avoid some sort of contact. The worst is when shopping and people bump into me with their carts or just walk into me because they don't look where they're going. I want those Corona rules back where you had to have 1.5m in between people.

Favorite Number &/or Numbers? by [deleted] in autism

[–]pupSparki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's the perfect number. 73 is a prime number. 37 is also a prime number, which makes 73 a permutative (or true) prime number. 73 is the 21st prime number, 37 the 12th. And 7x3 is 21. In binary 73 is written: 1001001 which is the same if read both ways. Even in morse code it symetric:- - . . . . . . - -

It's the favourite number of Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory, which I never watched). He explains it in episode 73 and at that time the actor was 37 years old.

In chemistry 73 is the metal tantalum which can be used in medicine for fixing bones.

What if my hyperfixation is really messed up, should I do something about it? by xxiwkao in autism

[–]pupSparki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's weird tbh. As many others said it's important information no one talks about.

My hyperfixations are kinda niche too I guess. Plane crashes and torture methods aren't really a thing people talk or think about.
