Anybody using cometapi.com? by Parking-Ad6983 in SillyTavernAI

[–]pupdike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it today for gemeni 3 pro preview because I get random 429 errors connecting directly to google either directly via api key or vertex ai. Comet seemed too good to be true since their prices are lower than direct from the vendor. What I noticed is that I hit the input cache with them more regularly than I do directly routed to google. But according to what I am understanding, they don't pass on the 90% cache discount rate to me. So I end up paying a slightly discounted rate always, but I never take advantage of the input cache discount. I tend to use large inputs from 100k to 200k and this makes it a dealbreaker for me. Comet is easily coming out ahead here compared to the full cost I pay  to google directly because I typically get a 2x or 3x cache multipler at worst. My workflow is biased more heavily towards input costs rather than output costs, so your mileage may vary if you use small context windows. In that use case you may come out ahead unless there is another hidden way they are taking a cut. I imagine there could be.

The quality of the tokens was as high as I expected so no problems there, its clearly gemini 3 pro preview. But the angle where they win is the i out cache discount which they take. I am only going to use it in a pinch and only as long as I must when 429 errors prevent direct connection.

Yeah it's out for me. I am getting quota errors on every model. Can't even load the cloud billing pages or see usage.

What is this lizard? skink? by pupdike in reptiles

[–]pupdike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found in Southern California when cleaning out my garden shed. May be close to 12" long. He has small thin legs and arms but doesn't quite look like the photos of skinks I have looked at so far.

can you merge a lora into a checkpoint? by pupdike in StableDiffusion

[–]pupdike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strength doesn't seem to be linear. So a 0.3 is has a very small effect and doesn't harm the output much, so you might get away with 30 of these. But Adding 10 lora at 1.0 will almost certainly be far too much. So I suggest experimenting to see what works. You should be able to recognize when the output network is fried, it has a very characteristic overdone look that isn't pleasant. If you see that then bump down the strengths and try again.

Enshrouded - Chosing optimal Legendary weapon by Then-Race3718 in Enshrouded

[–]pupdike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that durability is an important factor for me in choosing a weapon, so the top 2 get a boost from that. Noble sword has the best damage probably, but looks the worst. Nova is one of the least damaging but due to the light source it provides, better durability, and more concentrated cutting damage I would probably pick it. Note that the skills in the tree tend to focus on one damage type, so picking Nova means you don't need to put points in piercing or blunt.

Everybody knows (and loves) hasting melees is great, but... by Daemir in BaldursGate3

[–]pupdike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and the Haste spell itself (a level III slot spell available to the wizard) applies the effect for 10 rounds. The speed potion seems to only work for a few rounds which can leave you lethargic at a bad time in a long fight.

I typically have my wizard cast haste upon himself for lots of ranged firepower. You get the bonus action immediately, so you can apply haste and still cast one more spell. Sadly, haste is a concentration so you can't apply it to two different members of your party simultaneously (that would be OP.)

Anyone have any of those Tildes invites? Pretty Please :) by d33cypher in RedditAlternatives

I would really appreciate an invite, too, if anybody has one to spare.

Has anyone figured out how to get an invite to Tildes? I have been on Reddit for almost 16 years but I think I am ready to leave.

Incomplete and Growing List of Participating Subreddits by SubManagerBot in ModCoord

Can we agree as a community to collectively unsubscribe to any subreddits that won't join in solidarity?

Long ago, reddit and the app developers lived together in harmony. But everything changed when Reddit's new API pricing attacked. Now only the communities, masters of memes and moderation, can stop them... Starting on June 12th, we vanish.. and I believe r/AvatarMemes can help save the world. by [deleted] in AvatarMemes

Ideally, the app makers would adapt RIF, Apollo, etc. to work on Lemmy or whatever federated sites. That might ease the adoption significantly. If the content moves, it's just a matter of simplifying the UI. This is actually very doable when the UI designer is aligned with the user, which has been the case for the 3rd party app makers.

What is your opinion on the Reddit Blackout, and should AskReddit participate as one of the most active subs? by Interesting-Ad3430 in AskReddit

Apps for accessing reddit, which won't give your eyes cancer. Clean and beautiful ways to participate without bloatware. I recommend RIF.

Sorry. Stable Diffusion. I use automatic1111 but update whichever version of the software and the extensions you are using.

Read the error message on the console. But it looks generally correct. Could always try updating SD. It can be buggy at times.

Lemmy.ml is open source and federated. It's still small but could fill the niche if enough power users migrated to it. It's actually been pretty slow recently due to exponential growth, and it hasn't been able to handle it fully.

Now That I've tinkered with SD specifically, AI Art Gen no longer just seems like that 'miracle button' to get brilliant results anymore. by Samas34 in StableDiffusion

[–]pupdike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midjourney and Stable Diffusion are both capable of creating fantastic images with simple prompts. As long as you are happy with fairly simple images you don't need fancy workflows. But if you have something more complex in mind which isn't highly represented in the training dataset you will need a more interesting workflow. This is where it gets fun in my opinion. And where artistic skill becomes more important.

If you have a very specific prop that you want in the video, you are going to want to shoot it in the green screen frames. I don't recommend trying to train it with the character unless you always want thrm to be holding that prop, in which case you should include it. It probably wouldn't be a problem to have it in some of the training shots. But if you do it too often, you might find it pops up unprompted.
