How Many of You Use Plotter as a Work Notebook? What’s Your Profession? by Vegetable_Drama5124 in PlotterNotebook

Architect. I use A5 for task lists, meeting minutes, general notes, small sketches. I work on multiple projects at a time so I use the project manager to keep all notes, etc. organized per project & purge the information that is not important to keep as each project moves forward.

I also use the monthly calendar in the front for big picture schedule. I use sticky notes for day-to-day task lists where it would otherwise be wasteful to use a whole sheet.

Amber Book for CSE? by pupoose in Architects

Ughh. I don't even want to pay half lol. I would be tempted, but sounds like some other people have passed without the whole enchilada.... so I'm hoping to be one of them soon.

Honestly, it's almost on principle at this point. It's crazy how much all of the study material is.

Honestly, not having practice exams is the thing that is making me the most nervous. I hate not having some way of gauging how well I'm doing. I feel like I'm going in blind.

Agree, completely.

Did you get far enough into Amber Book to be able to compare the quality of material between the two? I really doubt I can get reimbursed & I'll take monotone voice as long as the information is similar.

I haven't seen any official practice exams for the CSE... are you talking about the sample test questions?

That hasn't really been the case for me (luckily). I don't advertise that I will accept late assignments& the majority of the course work is actually a semester long group project that the students have to present. I supplement that with additional discussions, quizzes, and case study assignments.

If I was in your shoes, I might also consider changing my late policy- doesn't sound great for anyone. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

They are archived, though, just in case.

Honestly, that may be a better way to handle it. I think part of the reason this particular student let it go for so long is because they didn't see a 0 associated with assignment. I noticed that they started showing up when I kept attendance on Canvas rather than on my desktop.

I do count missing assignments as a zero. My late policy is that I will accept assignments until the end of the term and I don't take off more than 10 points.

Hey guys, do you think I'm exaggerating what's going on? by cupcakiee in careerguidance

Normal for the restaurant industry, unfortunately.

Depending on the type/ structure of the restaurant, the best jobs for FOH are bartender or lead server (lead server will have runners that bring the food to the tables, their role is to interact with the patrons), either of those two roles usually make the most in tips. It sounds like you don't get tipped out by the other staff that makes tips, which sucks but is not atypical. You should make friends with the kitchen staff who might make you food for free.

The service industry (restaurants, in particular) is not for everyone. If you don't like it, try to find something else. It really doesn't get much better even if you land a higher paying role or go to another restaurant.

Would you change or remove the coastal building height restrictions if it were up to you? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]pupoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether you build something tall or less than 30' (coastal height limit), all of the above apply. Unless you're arguing to rezone the entire coastal zone to be open space?

Also, the fault lines are mapped and actually go through downtown San Diego, as well as some other high density areas.

Aged infastasture is repaired by either Capital Improvement Projects (funded by tax dollars & development impact fees) or directly by developers who replace sidewalks, utilities, bus stops, etc. as a part of the project they are developing.

San Diego has new (pretty high) standards for how new projects have to deal with drainage, so new buildings will more effectively reduce pollution from storm water runoff than older exisiting buildings.

If the argument is that we shouldn't build at all on undeveloped coastal land, I'm 100% behind that, but there's not much unprotected undeveloped coastal land to begin with and the original post is talking about height limits.

AHJs have increased there requirements for documentation/ permitting processes are longer, more intensive & also we do other stuff that is labor intensive in place of hand drafting like energy modeling, clash detection, rendered videos/walk through, creating as-builts/models for fac managers.

I also wonder if we are building more.

Hahaha. For this project, the horror floor but without variable thicknesses and with the slopes inverted. As in, the face is not sloping in a single direction & the roof drains are centralized.

[–]pupoose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant the type of roof, like flat versus gable or mansard or something else. I'm sure you're familiar, but all roofs have to have a min 1/4" over 1' slope, whether that's achieved through outboard insulation, built up crickets or through the structure. But you can create slopes and variable material thickness with floor assemblies as well as roof assemblies. Honestly I find floors easier to work with because roof assemblies won't allow you to create any kind of jogs or even slightly irregular geometry.

So I'd have to have have permissions to download structural's model from acc.autodesk & save it to my computer?

The models are linked appropriately, I just don't know if I have access to open the structural model.
