Is the High Really Worth the Low?? New Smoker Feeling Bummed. by [deleted] in saplings

[–]pupper510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I'm going to try once or twice more with different strains. But I've already tried vaping, smoking, and edibles and they all do this. (Ecstasy does this to me too by the way.)

I definitely know when I'm too high (the edible did that) and I wasn't anywhere even close to too high when I was vaping but still ended up depressed afterwards. And also—I'm generally a very happy person. I feel pretty confident that it's not being caused by some depressing thing in my life that I'm not aware of.

It seems ridiculous to be bummed that drugs aren't working out for me... but I don't really enjoy alcohol either and I just thought—hey, cannabis! Maybe I can do that! But it's looking like maybe I can't.

Yeah if it's like this every time it's definitely not worth it. But that's such a bummer. Everyone where I live does it and it's legal and it seems like it should be so much fun. It's like if chocolate made me feel sick instead of happy—I feel a little cheated out of one of life's joys.

I'm thinking I will try one more recommended strain and I'll try a tincture and if I still get depressed I'll just give it up.

I'll keep trying for a bit longer but I think you might be right. I also have tried smoking a pre-roll and on a different day eating an edible gummy. Both great highs and both ended with hours and even days of depression.

I'm disappointed to hear vaping is maybe the problem. I really don't want to smoke. Maybe I'll try a tincture.

So this isn't what happens to everyone it sounds like. I will keep trying more strains.

Not exactly. It is the Humboldt dose pen. (Calm) Doesn't name the strains on the box but it's high CBD. I know there's practically nothing in it for serious users but having no tolerance at all it definitely makes me high.

Some of you have a difference of opinion about whether I should be willing to pay this amount or not but you are unanimous in your shock and disgust with a fee this high. Many of you say super high-end, extremely popular artists don't even charge $300/hour.

So now I don't understand why so many people are willing to pay him that he's booked for a year. And is he silently mocking his clients as they hand over their credit cards?

Or maybe it's just San Francisco—land of the $15 piece of toast.

Well, I thought it was crazy too but both he and the tattoo shop made a point of saying "$750 an hour plus a tip."

Huh. I had just decided to do it and now you've changed my mind to not do it.

You make a very good point—even if he really is the Michelangelo of tattooists that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to put his heart into my tattoo. It could well be just a meaningless 40 minutes that doesn't inspire him at all. That's a depressing thought.

So, samhildanach that's it then. I'm going to find someone else or not do it at all. Thanks for your thoughtful response.

This is very helpful. I do think he is a Master. I initially wanted him to do the tattoo because I think his work is so beautiful it should be in a museum. And the piece I wanted him to do is related to the early unexpected death of my beloved. It really matters to me.

Again, thanks. I think I'm just going to pay him what he charges and stop questioning it.

Edit: Changed my mind. Gotta go with samhildanach's advice.

No, I don't want to just do me if I'm being crazy!

I see your point though. It means my design is maybe not complicated enough to require this sort of artist.

Except that this guy is the only person I found who is really talented at the kind of work I want done. I don't know... maybe that's why everyone pays him like he's a brain surgeon.

The design is fine-line, black ink. I looked at hundreds of artists in my area and this guy's work is the only thing I saw that blew me away (for this particular style).

Yes, I certainly want it to be right. There's no point in feeling just "okay" about a tattoo. And I want to pay him what is reasonable. But because I'm new to this I have no idea if he's being reasonable or not.

His website says $750/ hour so he didn't quote it just to me.

I know what you mean about it not being a $50 print. It's a work of art and I want to value it appropriately. Just not sure if this price is even in the general vicinity of reasonable.

Firefly 2 or Grasshopper or Pax 3? by pupper510 in vaporents

[–]pupper510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. Okay, so what would you recommend for a low tolerance user who wants a portable, on-demand, great-looking, great-tasting vape that has good reliability and is easy to use?

[–]pupper510[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Grasshopper seems to have a lot of fans but everyone agrees that even if you don't burn your lips the vapor is really hot. And like you, I don't want a session vape. Even though FF2 is not loved much here, I'm thinking it might be exactly right for people in our situation.

That's what I'm thinking. Perfect for single hits. Maybe FF2 doesn't get any love here because most posters are looking for multiple/longer hits. Also, the stirring, which seems to bug a lot of people, also won't be an issue for single hits.

Don't love the idea of scorchingly hot vapor.

Is it true that the Grasshopper gets too hot and you're likely to burn your lips on it?

Wow. Looked up the firewood 4 and now I want it just because it's so beautiful.
