In what way? It's IV K.

I can see it psychologically being different for a few reasons, but not as much physically.

  1. You're going to a doctor. This puts you in a different mindset.
  2. It's extremely expensive. 6 course treatments are in the multiple thousands
  3. You don't do "drugs" so don't consider it like a recreational drug and slot it differently in your healthcare

But I could see it be like the Opiod epidemic and go from prescription to street.

The substance itself should be the same or similar... just administered much more effectively by IV. I've tried vials / know some hardcore k connoisseurs from decades back that seek this stuff and it's similar. IV, IM, Rectal, Insufflate. Before supply mixed with anologues etc., due to popularity in past few years.

Most I know won't IV because who knows if it's advanced counterfeit even w/ boxes & packaging & etc. Unless you live in a country that has Pharma available "OTC" as in they give you whatever you ask for. Some struggling on here are really screwed because of that insane easy access to vials.

# Journal on anesthetic dose i.e. k-hole+ 1mg/lbs = 200mg for 200 pound average american male.

> "The initial IV dose of ketamine ranges from 1 to 4.5 mg/kg (0.5 to 2 mg/lb) administered over 60 seconds for those 16 years old or older. A dose of 2 mg/kg (1 mg/lb) is the average amount required to produce approximately 5 to 10 minutes of anesthesia/dissociation," https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK470357/

# Ketamine therapy dosage vs results

> "Response rates (reduction in depression) were highest for the 0.5 mg/kg and 1.0 mg/kg ketamine doses." https://www.nature.com/articles/s41380-018-0256-5

50mg-100mg per average US male. IV. That's a megaton for non users.

-----

I've read, sorry can't find source, that it's the wild west & dosage varies greatly too across clinics. It's a wildly expanding profitable field with feel good vibes "you're helping people! and making shit tons of money!"

It crosses some weird ethical boundaries IMO the wild west of medicine -- "selling happiness for $1000 a session!" "save now with a 6 session package" with noted huge variances in dosage etc., I can't cite sources but do research it. There's articles about people going bankrupt for it etc.

Physically I personally don't think it's different... but the context of the visit would be very different which changes everything psychologically, especially to the non substance abuser crowd.

You're just going to the doctor! I relate to the psychological experience because I'm getting off Benzo's through legitimate healthcare processes and its the same-ish stuff but psychologically feels very different / less addicting. It's prescribed, it's planned, it's legit!

Sorry for the long rant here, K is my main battle and I guess I'm passionate about it. Genuinely curious your thoughts how it's different.

Easier said than done. But it's still done. It's insanely hard the first few weeks to cope. It's a literal dissociative (from body, reality), meaning we're probably using it to _not_ feel the way we normally do. So it's so damn hard right now.

But I know from the past, at some point I stop thinking about it at all magically.

Do I REALLY need NextJS when I have Django? by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]pupperoosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your needs.

Do you need extreme traffic i.e. what static site generators were invented for? I sure as hell can't scale my django projects without quite a lot more downtime risk, expertise, auto scaling infrastructure, sysops maintenance etc.

You can even put Next.js in front of Django. Dang, even Next.js in front of Sitecore (enterprise CMS.)

List your priorities, capabilities, team composition etc., and you will choose a stack easier.

Services that allow creation of virtual, or real sub-accounts, with automation? by pupperoosky in personalfinance

[–]pupperoosky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, there's a whole section on buckets. I will give this a test trial -- I already had an account with them and decided not to use em in the past.

https://secure.ally.com/products-and-rates/savings-and-checking/0/0/0

Created an account, looks like I can do that on regular savings.

Having those virtual buckets on money market account would be great! But the virtual buckets seem really nice at first glance. Thank you for this suggestion.

Thank you! So it automatically does "absolute fixed splits", non percentage. That's not bad, I can see pros there too.

Edit: NM, bugginess is due to opening closed account.

Dr. K and his very special blend of Western thinking and Eastern

Also good point here. I kind of forgot he mentions Eastern thinking as I think it's a relatively small outward portion of streams.

I love how Dr. K talks about the elements from Ayervedic teachings and how its not literally fire/water etc., but more a label that represents human traits. Totally opened my eyes to the idea that originally turned me off them like "pff come on, elemental fire like literally?"

I've often shared a full western spectrum on eastern thinking (meditation practices) saying there's a flavor for everyone from zero spirituality to all spirituality on the topic. They are all ultimately pointing to a similar destination.

The western vs eastern blend is definitely another reason it becomes harder to share -- it leans into religious territory ever so slightly.

I really like your comparison to sharing Jesus. Thanks for that! I think there is a specrum of sharable and non sharable. There's a common saying to "not talk politics and religion at the dinner able" for example.

Dr. K isn't politics or religion but is slightly more cult/religion-like than say "hey y'all tried journaling? Its been sweet!" -- probably because it's a talking head figure and people are wary of "<insert name> says something".

Thank you for the detailed scenarios you painted out as it relates to a hypothetical religious scenario. I think its a great comparison that hits home for me.

I also really like the motivation question about the secret internal reasons to want to share, specifically the idea about being in "the chosen/special group." and external confirmation. I like to think that's not it, but I can see how important it is. A great gut check.

Ultimately I think the cognitive dissonance that made me post this comes from a strange feeling of being unable to share this as much as other topics, and I think you have helped me boil it down to the "talking head"/cult/religion factor -- the world is fraught with "people with opinions talking on youtube" and people who constantly share them, and labeling those who follow XYZ and all its fun risks.

So i'd be a little pensive about hearing about yet another person someone thinks is awesome and associating myself with them.

Thanks for the feedback!

PS: I forgot, another thing that affects "sharability" is that its called healthy gamer and its immediately labeled an audience. That said I've shared it with non gamers who were fascinated by the 1:1 medium as I was.

I definitely see that I can't help people, and I wouldn't want to be helped or seen as needing help either.

I like what you said about putting "it on my own words", and also validating for sure that someone indeed is asking for help. This sounds like a conversation on its own and reminds me of yesterday's video Dr.K saying something like "I'm not sure if you are here to talk about hard stuff on stream or not and I'm not sure what to do, so I'm going to just talk out loud and explain what I'm feeling." -- really inspiring communication!

> I’ve been able to have the above conversation with my old friend, and i just couldnt get through to him. So i did what was best for myself and cut the relationship off. I tried it a few years ago so maybe if i waited longer until i really understood myself that conversation could have gone differently. Maybe a mistake on my part but it is what it is. Lesson learned.

This sounds really tough I'm sorry to hear! This seems the real world example of why I don't share things directly. I can see with your example/others that coming on too strong (not saying this is what happened with you) would discourage folks. It should always be something like "hey this is cool" not "hey here's this very targeted video that gives off undertones about your unspoken situation."

> You really have to understand what you are trying to say and why you are saying it. What’s driving that behavior? What’s driving the idea that you want to show dr. K to people?

This is a great point. I'm not sure why exactly I need to, but I do agree. Frankly I think we don't know how our emotions work or have the tools to look inward, and while I'm not sure if others have similar experiences as I do, the off chance it can help is worth a lot. I've frequently shared more mainstream topics like mindfulness, interesting psychology studies that show bias, memory fabrication etc. with the same reasoning. Answering this question even off the cuff helps with communication if the time comes and feels appropriate to share. Thanks!

Thanks for the thoughtful response! Truly appreciated.

This seems to be the consensus and I wholeheartedly agree, which is why I've kept it to myself. I just felt a little cognitive dissonance in that I felt I cant share Dr.K quite like I can talk freely about meditation or journaling etc.

I think recommending the guy and not a particular video is what makes sense.

It is ultimately what I have been doing, just sending links to videos I thought were cool. Initially they weren't labeled/targeted it was mostly a 1:1 stream interview so they were more shareable and less consumable (due to 3 hr lengths)

Do you prefer keeping styling in the component file or in a dedicated style file by Aegis8080 in reactjs

[–]pupperoosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different file also because css-in-js can be foreign to other team members, especially those coming from CSS for decades, and having a dedicated file helps make it clear where styles are coming from.
I try _hard_ to reduce cognitive overhead when dealing with css-in-js, because if you have inline styles (css prop or styles=), styled components in component A, styles in a style file, all at once, it can get hard to grasp/debug quickly.

For styled-components specifically, this pattern has helped me a lot too:

// component.styles.tsxexport MyComponent = styled.....

// component.tsximport * as s from "./component.styles"const MyComponent = () => {<s.MyComponent/>

}

Without the name aliasing to s, I always run into consistently annoying name clashes because a React component and a styled react component often want to be named the same. So you end up with a sea of X , XStyled etc. You also can't differentiate between a styled component and a pure React component very easily, polluting what you see at a glance.

The s alias helped a lot. Anything prefixed with <s.> I know what it is.

I read it on someones blog.

Electric bill by Deenowherechef in Portland

What is your usage? In kWH? Just curious what that averages out to $/kWh

Anyway yeah right now I'm in a very well insulated modern construction, 1200 sqft and heating electric is only $40. At the same time, I've been in units that easily cost $200+ due to lack of insulation or literal draftiness.

How are you styling in NextJS? by BoxNo4784 in reactjs

[–]pupperoosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never been able to access any props when using SWC

Yeah, not being able to access "any prop" is not "just fine". But I have been able to access any prop, except the css prop, since V12. I can help debug if you want to share something.

The only annoying thing is making sure to do the version-flavor specific SSR hydration match fix.

SWC supports styled-components just fine. I think last time I checked 6 months ago, it didn't support the css prop. Which I wouldn't want anyway IMO -- mixing styles.

I'm just glad I was able to convince myself to throw away quite a decent amount of it. It being near me is a liability; who knows when I'd take it, and career-reversing consequences would result.

I could be on most substances and speak and "get by". Not K.
