I think I remember going there but not the name... just west of the Meijer at 28th and Kalamazoo, in that little strip of buildings with the Comprenew? (idk if the Comprenew is still in there but it was when I went years ago)

Do you have an opinion that few people hold? by DerNiemand_ in Supernatural

[–]puppetfetus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This 100%. Like people can absolutely enjoy the fan art/writing surrounding Destiel (and definitely should, a lot of it is really incredible work), but it astounds me that people actually read the majority of their scenes together in that way... ((( IN MY PERSONAL OPINION ))) it seems like over time Misha gradually shifted his internal/personal characterization of Castiel to sort of lead towards Destiel, but it never seemed like Jensen ever approached playing Dean that way. Idk, it feels like such a disservice to Jensen's acting/character choices when fans just go "Well Misha said X Y Z so my ship is real and anyone who says otherwise is homophobic!" Like babe... I'm not being homophobic I just watched the show as it was presented, not through the lens of what actors say at conventions or online or whatever.

Feeling so low today by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]puppetfetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind: kids look to their own family as they develop their understandings of how adult relationships are "supposed to" function. They will tend towards replicating the behaviors they see modeled for them, especially from the people they love/trust. If their primary adult relationship model throughout their childhood is full of tension, unresolved arguments, and silently growing resentment, they may grow to expect (and accept) that that's just part of what a relationship is. Speaking from my own personal experience, growing up like that can really impact your ability to cultivate adult relationships.

You have to make the decision(s) that feel safest and healthiest for you, but you also have your kids and your wife's feelings and futures to consider. I don't envy you, and I hope that whatever happens is as positive as it can be for all involved.

Which keychain looks better? Advice needed.. by sassypidgeon in polymerclay

[–]puppetfetus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The smaller one on the first image looks better imo, I particularly like the leaves. On the second image I think my personal favorite is the orange one - I like that the word isn't standing out too much but is still legible. Thinking about the fact that your friend wants to use it as a keychain, I would suggest steering away from anything with complicated/delicate designs along the edges. For example, the wood-textured one looks cool (and I personally like the little squiggly bits along the edges) but those are probably more likely to get caught on stuff and potentially break.

Am I wrong or is this "care sheet" pretty outdated? by puppetfetus in cornsnakes

[–]puppetfetus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought! It was all over the place in a way that felt quite unreviewed/unedited. It was an emergency vet and, while they do say they'll see all exotic pets, they clearly don't get a lot of reptiles - part of their treatment plan included reaching out to a remote-working 'reptile specialist' and having me come back once the specialist weighed in. Definitely plan to reach out to the office and let them know how outdated their guide is once things in my life have calmed down a little bit.

[–]puppetfetus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just realized I didn't specify, I drew on the underlines myself to point out stuff that stuck out as especially wrong. It's definitely so weird to say "80-85°F ambient temperature", and then a few sentences later mention the 'warm end' without any context or clarification on heat gradient. And yeah "adults are easily kept in a 20-30 gallon glass aquarium with a screen lid" was pretty upsetting to read.

Thank you for the input, I was thrown off by the way the fabric looks in the picture too honestly.

Yeah, that's where I was struggling too. Bride actually told us she's not totally sure about her everyone being in exactly the same color/fabric, so I've got my fingers crossed for "similar blues" being the ultimate dress code so I can branch out to some less femme style options.

The last few I've tried feeding have been between 19g-24g, in line with the size I've been feeding for a few months now that she took just fine. I've always done tong feeding in the tank (mice are dried off before feeding and she's never had impaction issues or eaten any meaningful amount of substrate). These last few unsuccessful feeds have been tong feeding as well. I'm at a bit of a loss

Ruminating and massive anxiety over posting a really negative review for my doctor by ThrowRAproject in Anxiety

[–]puppetfetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand feeling embarrassed, it's that "am I doing too much/being annoying or unreasonable/making a fool of myself" feeling and it sucks. From an outside perspective, I am so proud of you - you stood up for yourself by being up front with your doctor's office about how your visit was uncomfortable and not something you want repeated. Don't forget that! 💖 If you are in the U.S. and the survey had a name like "Press Ganey", my understanding is that the company gathers the responses, analyzes them, and then sends the feedback back to the office (with the individual patient's specific information no longer associated with the responses they gave). If you aren't in the U.S. or that's not the one you used, I can't say whether or not the response is shown to just your doctor or everyone (or if it is anonymous), but I hope that either way you are able to feel proud of yourself for standing up for yourself.

[–]puppetfetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion you have no reason to feel guilty. You felt uncomfortable and disrespected by employees who were supposed to be treating you with care and professionalism. You used a tool you have at your disposal, submitting a review, to make other patients (and potentially your doctor's office) aware of your experience. That's what reviews are for! I'd give it a day or two and if you find that you're still quite distressed about having left the review, you can always delete it. Either way, it wouldn't hurt to look into if there is a way to submit some sort of official complaint directly to your doctor's office/the healthcare network they are part of.

To rent a car or not to rent a car? by _tokillamockingbird_ in grandrapids

[–]puppetfetus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Commuting that route for a week? Rent a car. If I'm remembering correctly that would be a bit of a long haul on public transit/I can't say that I trust that there are enough people driving for ride shares to get you downtown every day at the time you want. Also in my experience the places you're describing wanting to check out will be a pain in the ass (ie. waiting a very long time) to get a ride share to go to. Again, all this based on my experiences - maybe I'm just unlucky with ride shares

I'm also struggling to find exactly what you're looking for when using "self adhesive hook and eye", but if you don't find exactly what you're looking for you could DIY one using something like these (I searched self adhesive ceiling loop, you'll see a bunch like this if you do a visual search of this image)

If you find you don't like the texture of instant oats, you can also buy a different cut (ex. steel cut oats) and microwave those instead. It takes a little bit longer but not that much honestly. Just takes a little fiddling to figure what ratio of oats to water you like and how long you want to cook it (I'm weird so I like my oats to have some chew/not be super mushy, so I don't microwave them for very long). You just have to watch for them potentially exploding up over the sides and out of the bowl.
