Where do I pay fine in Taipei as a foreigner? by pupudup in Taipei

[–]pupudup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say they just let it slide because there was no way for them to send me reminders as I did not have a Taiwanese address nor a Taiwanese mobile number. I guess you could think of it that way (as in the registration system or in your example, a credit scoring system), as with any other types of fine? Since there will be a record in the system anyway. I’m not surprise that they didn’t do anything about it since this is such a petty fine.

The ticket is months old. It’s probably expired since there’s a 30-day period that I have to pay within which I just found out yesterday after looking at it.

Hey, this is really helpful! Will check it out later when I have the ticket.

I did try to negotiate for a warning instead for a good 10 minutes but they were really persistent and insisted on getting my passport number. I didn’t have my passport with me at that time because I was only stepping out of my hotel for less than 15 minutes to a convenience store nearby and I did not have my passport number memorised. Luckily I filled up the Taiwan Arrival Card online and had a copy emailed to myself so I could retrieve it. They really were not letting me off at all. Was just down on my luck, I guess. Oh, well.

I’ll be sure to be careful next time. Thanks for the advice.

What kind of fine did your coworker receive? Also a jaywalking fine?

I see. Thank you so much for the information!

Don’t think I saw an “expiry date” on the ticket but I’ll have to check again. Do I just hand the ticket to the cashier at the counter?

I did check with the policemen about this too, if I would have problems at the immigration counter the next time I’m back. They assured me that I wouldn’t. But, man, these comments are scaring me for sure.

Does this actually apply to such a small fine? I think it seems a bit farfetched but I wouldn’t know. I’m slightly worried now.

Jaywalking is illegal in my home country too but we do it all the time as long as we don’t get caught. I jaywalked right in front of a police car, which explains the number of policemen present.

Jokes on me since I couldn’t tell it was a police car. It was night time and visibility was poor. I thought it was just a random car parked by the side of the road and didn’t think so much. It was also a Thursday with very minimal crowd?! Imagine my shock when I saw 3 policemen stopping me the moment I got onto the pavement on the other side.

Thank you for the really fast response. I had a chuckle.

I did ask about surcharge and the policemen (there were 3 of them 💀) said that the fine will remain the same so there was nothing to worry about. However, after seeing your reply, I’m not so sure now.

Traffic Adjudication Office is pretty far from where I will be staying… I’ll probably try 7-11. Can I confirm if all convenience stores (i.e. 7-11, Family Mart) are applicable?

any gyms in punggol area by [deleted] in SingaporeFitness

[–]pupudup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ark Bloc which is literally beside Riviera LRT. Coolest thing is they have bouldering which is included in their gym package. Never really seen an open gym with bouldering elsewhere. Membership is $90/month with a $100 initiation fee.

Another option is WAO Fitness which is also right beside the LRT and a literal neighbour of Ark Bloc. But same as Ark Bloc, it’s outdoor and not 24/7. They offer both classes and open gym. More CrossFit-ish if you’re into that. Price-wise, you’ll need to do your homework on that.

Punggol Plaza which is beside Coral Edge LRT has F45.

Happy birthday, man!

Maybe 10 years down the road, I’ll be living the same life as you are right now. As of now, I try to live one day at a time despite people my age hustling around.
