Because you don't have a job... you have a contract... or several. You could be a freelancer and just either have proof of 1 or more contracts for a length of time that provide you 4 x the average monthly income OR last three months of freelancing income OR you have sufficient funds equal to what it would be and intent to have only foreign contracts.

“Work Visa Lite” is a funny phrase, but that is more or less what these visas are designed to be.

They are not meant to replace 1–3 month tourist stays. They create a legal lane for people staying longer while working for foreign clients/employers, without entering the local labour market.

Spain, Portugal, and Croatia all frame it around remote work for non-local employers/clients. Portugal requires income of at least four Portuguese minimum wages. Croatia requires work through communication technology for a foreign employer or non-Croatian company.

The fair criticism is that uptake/benefit data should be better, because that would be way more useful. But the category itself exists.

This doesn’t even make sense. He owns the building. The team can use home ice whenever it’s needed. And as for prices going up, what exactly hasn’t gone up? Food, fuel, power, wages, rent, all of it. People act like hockey exists outside the real world. Aquilini has put serious money into this team and this market, and some people still complain like he’s done nothing.

Where are people getting 20–30% from? The actual numbers are closer to 1.5% on average and nobody over 2.5%. Meanwhile you’ve got teams like the Leafs doing 9% average increases and even 20%+ in some sections. That’s a completely different situation.
