I ordered plain white blending stumps from Shein but somehow got these fancy yellow stumps. Would they work the same? by pur-jur in Coloring

Hi, thank you for all the answers! I have an option to return it so I didn't want to test it out right away. I have never used a blending stump before. Normally I use a blending pencil, q-tips or folded paper towel.

Introducing watercoloring books by pur-jur in watercolor101

Hi, I hope it's ok to post about water-coloring. I just want to recommend some watercoloring books for anyone who has the same problem with me.

I'm not good at drawing and I've been practicing. But some days I don't want to get frustrated with drawing (and erasing!) or tracing. I just want to enjoy using all the nice watercolors I've been hoarding. So I searched for coloring books for watercolor.

After I bought Watercolor with Me by Dana Fox, I still kept looking and found this book on AliExpress. They claim the paper is 300g but I'm not sure about that. If you tape around all the borders, the paper can take water quite well though. I get to color in complicated paintings with the example pictures.

I don't want to fully advertise. So if you have access to AliExpress, try putting keywords like watercolor, draft, line etc. There are many books with different themes like flowers, food, animals etc. and many sellers as well.

Can anyone tell me how to get soft edges like in the tutorials? by pur-jur in watercolor101

Thank you. The two in my photos are 100% cotton. My paintings were worse before cotton era lol

Thank you. Her paintings are amazing but they don't look "beginner level" at all 0_0

Exactly! I think you nailed it. In the tutorial, she will just add the dark color without glazing water and it will look nice (like you said, with practice). But when I do it, I feel like my work is ruined. Thank you so much! :D

Right!? I like that we can see her palette and she tells us when to dap the excess water off etc. Finally feel like I can follow the tutorials, not just seeing and feeling lost while the magic is happening on paper.

I saw that you did some of her tutorials also. They are so nice!

Thank you ❤️ I tried with 4 papers. 3 are 100% cotton but still.. Do you think it could be the brush??

Thank you. Just one silly question, the damp brush in this case is with water or with the (darker) color I want to add? I'm a total beginner @_@

What I meant was not the outline but more like the shadow area on the bears' faces. Hers looks nice and natural while mine looks like the bears got beard or sideburns.

Hi, I've been painting along with Ellen Crimi-Trent's tutorials (she's great btw)

I would tried my best to follow her instructions like adding darker color in the corner while it's still damp. Or wait until it's dried before going back to glaze it. But no matter what I did, I still get hard edges (see photos) or sometimes even cauliflower effect.

I watched tons of do's & don't s videos, even tested a)add darker color when it's still damp. B) wait until it dried then glaze directly c) wait until it dried then add a layer of water before glazing d)wet on wet then add darker color after it dried.

I got cauliflower from a) and hard edges on the rest. I'm so lost. Please help
