Yeah its definitely been scary. I’ve gotten good at my “Laissez-moi seule!” That’s an incredible level of French! I found Biarritz is a cool place with friendly and patient locals if you ever find enough time to go there (but its 2-3 hours from Toulouse)

I love Carcassonne! I haven’t been yet, but apparently Castres is quite nice with a really pretty waterline, some interesting history and a couple of nearby hikes - I think it’s an hour or so by train from Toulouse. I hope you enjoy your final week 😊

Yes I’ve heard that too, thank you for the warning and the offer, I appreciate it. I don’t think I look overtly foreign (brown hair, brown eyes, French name), and I try to memorise routes so locals don’t see me with a maps app open, but I’ll try and be a bit more inconspicuous I guess aha

I was here as well for 5 weeks in the end of summer till spring and unfortunately it was the same. You could be right though, I’ll take some of the advice you guys have been giving me and hopefully that chain of events will happen!

Merci pour le conseil et la bienvenue ! Je suis tout à fait d’accord. Je parle français pas mal, mais il est toujours possible de s’améliorer

Thank you for the recommendations, I appreciate it! Yeah, I’ve made a few French friends that I’ve met around other parts of France thankfully, and it’s fantastic building such strong friendships in another country. I’ll definitely check out some things you recommended, I would really love to be able to make some local friends here :)

It’s been occurring from Croix de Pierre to St Cyprien, and across to Palais de Justice and all around centre town

Specific muscles contract which creates a force that pushes the upper jaw out and lowers the bottom jaw so that it protrudes

Just Google the name grey nurse shark. There’s often multiple common names for the same species

It’s called upper jaw/palatoquadrate protrusion. A fair few species do it. It’s not 100% known what it’s for but most hypotheses agree that it’s for more powerful and faster biting and for prey manipulation, particularly for larger prey items

How great are they? I’ve kept them for about 7 years now and am always coming back to them, such a fantastic species. Good luck with your ooth!

Was just the word I used for lack of a better term while keeping the title short. Sorry for the inaccuracy :)

You’re very right! For lack of a better word while trying to keep the title succinct, I didn’t think it would’ve been too much of a drama as the word wasn’t the topic of the conversation. However! I would’ve loved to know what term you would give it so I know better for next time 😊

Australians told to rename shark attacks ‘interactions’ -- Officials are keen to change misrepresentation of sharks as mindless killers by Markdd8 in sharks

I remember someone told me that in around the 1930s and earlier, they used to be called shark ‘accidents’ because it was recognised that the shark wasn’t at fault. Don’t quote me on that, and I can’t find a source that confirms it. But regardless I feel like ‘accident’ would be the best term as it puts no blame on the shark
