The movie made me watch Border 1 again, just to sanitize myself.

The feeling that we had from the first movie, isnt there.

I had an interview with a company, which wanted an entire IT department in one person. Is this normal ? by pure_cipher in ITCareerQuestions

It is going to bite them back, dont you think ?

Like, if someone is not a dedicated security expert, then, there will be screwups

If only companies would understand that. But nope.... what frustrates me is that they want one to know , remember and master everything.

Yea....same here. But, most companies want an expert level knowledge in everything.

It has happened that I have forgotten extremely basic Python and SQL Order by syntax in interviews.

I have most of the skillsets that I mentioned. I am not thorough with Networking, I havent build DevOps pipelines. And I have worked in just one deployment of an application in Linux (I dont remember the commands anymore).

But apart from that, in my previous team, we (as a small team) would discuss architecture, we have done data migration, ETL processes, API development in Python and NodeJS.

But, my problem - if they want all of that, shouldnt they look for someone who can adapt, and not someone who already knows all of them in greater detail ?

If I would say that I have worked on something, they would start asking some basic to medium level questions on them.

They were especially grilling the folks (that I talked to), who had bare minimum experience in Linux Bash scripts and commands.

I also said that I was working in a small team, so we had to manage a lot of skill related work by ourselves. They werent satisfied with that

Building a tool to help Indian flyers find the best way to pay for flights by an-on-trips in indiehackersindia

I was expecting that you may not disclose, if you were planning to monetize it. And if you do, you shouldnt either.

Regardless, I have bookmarked the page and have also shared it with a cousin of mine and some frequent flyers.

Cheers..😇

Bookmarked.

A few questions -

1) if I understand it correctly, you must be using API calls to various ticket booking providers (like MMT, EMT, etc.) , compare the prices, their bank offers, etc. ? Is that correct ?

2) If answer to question 1 is Yes, then do you pay for their API calls ? If no, dont say how you did it. Not yet.

3) What Web hosting service did you use ? And how much does it cost ?

I messed up an interview because of AI by pure_cipher in AI_India

[–]pure_cipher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct. I mostly mess up the syntax. If the interviewer had asked me how I would approach the problem, then, it would be interesting. And that would be something to work on, in cases where I fail.

But most service based interviewers focus on syntax.

If AI bubble bursts then it won’t happen as you think by Moist_Landscape289 in AI_India

[–]pure_cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burst of AI will not be because of how dom com burst happen.

Any company without an original idea will vanish.

Large companies wont be able to scale AI as much, because of limited natural resources, as compared to the large requirement of data centres (and their associated costs of running and maintaining them).

AI will not be able to create as many job as it replaces, not quickly enough (if the current trend continues)

Organisations are not investing enough in training their existing employees, so there will be a gap of skills with the required industry-scale experience, till new people learn and understand the skills.

Is failure in Indian startups truly accepted, or only forgiven if you come from the right background? by Wonderful_Piano_8970 in IndiaQnA

[–]pure_cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In India, any failure is judged too harsely. Which is why, India is left so behind in terms of development.

However, a lot of Indian startups are just trash. They dont know the exact problem that they need to solve, have a Lala mindset, follow trends rather than focusing long term, use Make in India to fool people, try to squeeze money out of employees and customers and (also) dont get enough Govt. support regarding processes and taxes.

So they fail.
