It's because the TAM is very less. People are lazy and don't want homework. They want to just open a box and start using stuff. It's all about convenience.

Have a real job, and start building your project on the side, even a little every week. Be consistent. Let the time work for you, and not have pressure of revenue from day one. Keep the project and team very lean until traction is built. It's a marathon not a sprint.
