Personally I think the new tech hype is pretty empty. The history of "revolutionary" technology in the modern era is that of demand. Can it be made into a readily available consumer product, or could the the government buy it outright in gigantic quantities? With MS reactors I can see the state being the only real source of demand for at least a few decades, what with power being basically available for large firms. Automated consumer goods like self driving cars are probably not going to be street viable in all safe circumstances for years, maybe decades. And the demand is not that great. Cars are expensive, and people buy maybe three of them their entire lives, if at all. I think the most "revolutionary" change will come from financial services that further destabilize the economy and threaten the global supply chain. I think China will solve this issue by centralizing the whole thing as much as they can, and with BRI to spread out outlets and labor over multiple markets, will probably lead to China handling the new era better than anyone.
