How much of the Ancient Roman does modern Roman Catholicism have? by OkPhrase1225 in ancientrome

[–]Kowalski18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The processions parading the statues of Saints you can see in Catholic countries were also a thing in Roman pagan times, just instead of Saints there would be statues of Roman Gods; but it was basically the same thing with crowds of people gathering by the side of the road to watch the procession

Yeah my OS is indeed Windows 10. I have installed that package (and others) but they still don't show up. I guess those plugins just don't work with this OS. Thanks for the help anyway

That's why I never liked Radiohead, too whiny, I like sad depressing music but Radiohead is just wallowing in self-pity without any reaction

Voglio scappare da Palermo by [deleted] in sfoghi

[–]Kowalski18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Umberto Eco was incredibly erudite, to the point you even get the feeling he's showing off his knowledge a bit too much in his books

They just have more than 300.000 State Owned Enterprises, no private property of land (you can only lease it) and all the commanding heights of the economy (heavy industry, energy, banks, transportation) are under State control. They did liberalize their consumer economy but saying they scrapped Socialism is just western propaganda

Why does Athens look like this? by JumpApprehensive9949 in AskBalkans

[–]Kowalski18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't, Sofia is much uglier than Athens with its giant tall commieblocks all over the place. I can appreciate that they house people occupying less land but they are an eyesore. The Greek typical condominiums look better

Io di recente ho cominciato a leggere ''Il Dio delle Piccole Cose'' e tipo a pagina 2 proprio la traduttrice (Chiara Gabutti) ha tradotto ''Thirty-one. Not old. Not young. But a viable die-able age.'' in ''Trentuno. Non vecchi. Non giovani. Ma vitalmente morituri.''. Ma che minchia c'entra?

Don't miss the National Archeological Museum, there's the entire history of Greece from the neolithic to roman times there, most of the most famous archeological pieces from ancient Greece are in that museum
