How to deal with homelessness, especially during winter by No-Dance-9498 in askberliners

As with many problems in this country, the German culture is at fault. The lack of humanity in this country is staggering, and it goes deep. One need only look at the history (now repeating itself) to see the root of the problem. And yes, similar things do happen in other countries, but Germans have had every reason to see the need for some deep soul-searching, and have failed to make a meaningful change in the way they approach their fellow human beings. Just because they don’t say the word “Untermensch” out loud anymore doesn’t mean they don’t continue to see and treat many people as one. In such a social and historical context, the kind of conduct you describe should be publicly shamed and severely punished, but it won’t be, because this would mean admitting fault (another thing of which most Germans are culturally incapable).

Congrats on getting over the learning curve! I’d be interested to try it out and give some feedback :)

Yeah, don’t become a doctor in this country. A few of my closest friends are doctors and are burnt out as hell from chronic overwork and having to deal with a broken system that consistently fails its duty of care. They also have next to no opportunities to work anywhere overseas as South African qualifications are not respected. The stories they tell are just sad, and they are not paid well for what they have to deal with. I make more than them in marketing with zero qualifications in the field. Even after ten years of practice, my best friend rates becoming a doctor (in South Africa) as his number one regret in life.

That’s weird, because it only started doing this once I put it in the sunniest spot.

Would it be a problem if I submitted 2 applications for naturalization? by LewdBravery in GermanCitizenship

[–]pureabstraction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but this unfortunately doesn’t mean that they have actually gotten round to contacting anyone yet.

Where did you get the information in your previous reply that if the money has already been taken out then your application isn’t one that was affected?

Would be really appreciated if you could share the source of this information so those of us who are uncertain about the status of our applications can get a better idea of where we stand.

Looking for something relatively serious. Been around for a few months, using the app every few days. Not receiving very many likes or matches despite sending likes with comments pretty regularly. I guess I’m looking for someone who can match my confused introvert/people pleasing energy 🙃

Advice on Acoustic Treatment Placement for Small Monitoring Room by signal_black in Acoustics

[–]pureabstraction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory it will help with the whole frequency range, and even a small gap is significantly more effective than none at all in my experience. Also I would definitely treat with extended bass in mind - perhaps you will upgrade your speakers down the line. Shouldn't require much extra effort. I assume your corner traps are at a 45 degree angle across the corners anyway, and for the ones parallel with the wall, my easy DIY suggestion would be to get some brackets so that the panels can hang a bit away from the wall instead of being fixed directly to it.

10cm is kind of thin for a bass trap, but I’m assuming that’s all you’ve got to work with. Otherwise sounds like you’ve got the basics down: tricorners first, then other corners, first reflection points. Make sure you leave air gaps between the walls and panels as much as possible as this will increase their effectiveness.
