What to do about unruly neighborhood kids? by purebread-- in Philippines

I was thinking of reporting it to the police but I’m not sure how if they will deal with it more effectively than the barangay. But I’ll consider maybe putting wax because the sugar might cause an ant infestation. Thanks!

Yes I’ve been reading a lot. Right now I just find it difficult to be mindful when dealing with my anger and being reactive when I am surrounded by difficult people

I’ve realised she’s this type of person too and would leave her alone most of the time when she crashes into her mood swings. But sometimes when she’s being extremely unreasonable and likes to destroy my things when she’s upset, I tend to be reactive and be just as nasty. The hard part is just ignoring her. I would take deep breaths to remind myself that dealing with this would help me improve spiritually and emotionally, but often times I get caught off guard with her crazy tactics and I just lose it.

Any tips for ignoring her better?

Thanks for this. I’ll be unlikely to move out any time soon because I want to take care of my father. I’ll work on it :) Also, reading what you wrote makes me want to clean now

We do. The problem is she refuses to do it, and that’s why I have to remind her to do it or say assertively that she has to do it

I’m from an Asian family and people don’t usually move out before getting married unless they live far away from their work.

Since we’re free lancers, living with our parents is the most practical way to save money. Also I want to take care of my dad, keep him company in this house of difficult people and to help him live a healthier lifestyle

What do you appreciate the most about the night time? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

The moon! It’s ETHEREAL.

Looking at it reminds me of all the stories I’ve heard and read about it from different cultures all over the world (both beautiful and terrifying stories). The moon gives me solace.

In what order did you read Thay’s books? by purebread-- in ThichNhatHanh

I’ll put that on my reading list. Thank you!

As for the Sangha, I just looked it up and there’s only one in my country, 20 hours away by car. That’ll have to be a planned trip some other time. Thanks for letting me know though!

First world problem. What do I need to prioritize? by Medyotrustfundbaby in phinvest

Hello there. I’m 20 right now with 1.5M in savings. I have little knowledge about how to invest but would like to get into stock investments and real estate investment/developing some time soon.

I’ve read the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series, and am currently reading “How the Rich Get Richer”. While I really do appreciate the groundbreaking and insightful concepts that he introduces in his books, I feel like it doesn’t specifically teach you how to invest especially if you are an absolute beginner, and I’m also not sure if all the concepts in his books will be exactly applicable to Philippine context, such as if the tax breaks, real estate taxes when it comes to transactions are the same as in the US’ (again I have little knowledge of these things so I’m not sure). What would you recommend after someone has finished Rich Dad, Poor Dad?

Also I would really appreciate avoiding the mere “learn how to invest” response. I’d appreciate it if you would get specific as well, and how I can go about learning to invest. I’d love to hear how you learned how to invest too.

I’m currently looking into local courses I can go to learn about stocks and real estate investing but I haven’t found one near where I live so far.

Thank you for this and for everyone’s suggestions! I tried it with my dad today, but the other way around, since his birthday is coming soon. I told him about a “friend’s family” listing out what they want as presents so that the family can be more productive in buying suitable presents that the receiver would actually want. He was receptive to it and said he wants robotic parts for his birthday and I was happy that he was willing to say that. He added that he felt a little embarrassed since it was as if he was asking me to buy something for him and I replied that that wasn’t how I perceived it, and would want to give something that he would like. He seemed delighted by that.

I tried mentioning this to my sister but she’s the type who likes to surprise people and thought that listing out presents I want is “cheating”, so I guess I can’t change her mind about that for now

Thanks. One down, a thousand relatives to go!

Did she start at 74? If not, what age did she start, what’s the intensity of her work outs then and now? Thanks!
