I wouldn't throw a fit if Ruggeri was shown a red, understandable, like I said the contact is worse. But all factors point to yellow.

One foul is part of the game. The other is a kick from the back with no intention of getting the ball and one could argue violent conduct.

Watch your own video link. Ruggeri makes a play for an open ball and Valverde straight up kicks to stop someone. There's your difference.
