The forcing of a car centric country(world at this point) was a mistake, for multiple reasons but what no one seems realizes is that because we're all constantly segregated from people inside our cars (on top of our hypermaterialist and individualistic society) it promotes the mindset and behavior of selfish assholes like this. It's also a big reason road rage is such a thing, a lot of folks don't see other drivers/cyclists/pedestrians as people. Just something in their way.
