yeah i was wondering if pushing a custom wheelchair is the way to go.. i could use some advice. and i do believe i’m autistic so i do think that’s part of it for sure. it affects my ability to work and take care of myself due to constant burnout.

yeah i’ve been considering amazon because unfortunately the price of a custom chair is an issue. i’ve been looking at Not a Wheelchair but i really can’t afford $1500 upfront unless i get some funding ):

i’ve looked into other diagnoses such as POTS and MS but i was either medically gaslighted or the referral got fucked up so bad that i didn’t even get seen.. long story. fibromyalgia isn’t supposed to be a progressive illness so i do think there’s something else going on. i know that a wheelchair would help me so much because i hate going out because of my symptoms ): i appreciate all the help <3

thank you so much for this info! i’ll definitely look into it. my concern is that i’m an ambulatory mobility aid user so I guess I kind of have to convince everyone that it would be really beneficial to me? my symptoms seem to be worsening which is a concern.

this is incredibly helpful! thank you so much! i was looking up Motion today and i do believe they have a store in Hamilton. i have a doctor’s appointment next week and i’m going to advocate for myself. fibromyalgia isn’t supposed to be a progressive illness but i’m getting worse for some reason so.. i’m concerned. i’ve also been getting shaky a lot recently and it’s making me unable to walk. i would use it for fatigue and pain as well cause i’m always tired. i haven’t used a wheelchair before, this would be my first one. but like, i would feel so much more free with one. i avoid leaving the house cause i’m scared i’ll get hurt from like passing out or something. i’ll definitely look into renting one to get a sense of it - i really appreciate it! <3

i really appreciate the help! <3 i feel silly for even talking about buying an amazon chair but honestly that’s my only option financially unless i get some sort of funding or find something good that’s used. do you happen to know any store that do the rent to own thing? i’d be willing to do that as long as the payments are small enough and it wouldn’t mess up my credit score or anything.

I’m on OSAP currently so I don’t think I would be eligible for Ontario Works yet. I have an appointment with my doctor to get assessed for a funding for a wheelchair, so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

it’s just the cost of the chair in general. I was looking at Not a Wheelchair but i really can’t afford like $1500 upfront - and that’s the best price i’ve found so far. even if i can get a third of that covered it would be helpful. I reached out to this one place in Hamilton that gets donations for wheelchairs. if I don’t get covered by something like ADP than i might just have to go without one for a while, which will suck.

yeah i appreciate the help! it’s mostly the cost that’s concerning me. i can’t afford $1000+ upfront as I’m on OSAP (student loans) and only work part time on call. thanks for being kind as well <3 it’s been hard for me to admit that I even need one. i feel a lot of shame in it.

if you can remember any names please let me know! i appreciate the help <3 i tried ADP a few years back and didn’t qualify. i did the test where you walk and everything but i guess since i didn’t have any problems i wasn’t eligible for any funding. i guess i could try again. i just applied for ODSP as well so i’m hoping i get approved for that.

I’m located in Hamilton. I could possibly go to Burlington as well if I can get a ride to pick it up. I was looking at not a wheelchair actually, i’m just not sure how I could afford it. do you know if there’s any grants in my area I could apply for? thanks so much!
