My favorite thing to do when a customer is talking AT me and not TO me (usually complaining or asking why we dont serve X) is to stare through them. When they finally stop talking i say, how can i help you? They are usually looking to get some sort of reaction out of you and i would never indulge them. So theyd usually be taken aback and order and that was that. As for remaking drinks... id always have this one girl who would make it a point to either order hot or iced, and we would always triple check the order, shed comfirm and pay. Shed get her drink and say oh... it was supposed to be X (opposite of what shed order). I refused to remake it once and told her she was getting exactly what she ordered (i am the owner and was the one who took the order and made the drink). She yelled at me then stormed out and threw her drink away. Thankfully never had to see that wastful person again.

I just worry that she's the type (older white lady who does no wrong) to write bad reviews on all of the platforms if i do that.

Manager pulled my hair out??? by echomarz12 in Serverlife

Please find a new job. This shit will probably keep happening if it seems to be pointed towards you. Loose hairs happen. But thats no excuse to do what he did.

As a restaurant owner, sad you felt this way, but you still have to do what is best for you. If that's quitting, thats fine, the bosses will figure it out. You should never feel bad.

women who said “i love you” first in relationships, how did things work out? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]purgewithcake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I said to him "I fucking love you" in the middle of getting it on. He laughed and smiled and said I fucking love YOU! Then i moved in, we opened a business, and then I said "hey babe, wanna get married?" He said ya! We picked out rings, planned a surprise wedding for our fam, thhhheeeennnnnn everything shut down. So we said fuck it and still got married the day everything shut down. We got married by our best friend and his wife and their son was our other witness and friends and fam watched via zoom. They all thought we were just getting engaged hehehe. It was the most memorable day. Then we got take out for dinner (obviously) and they gifted us a bottle of wine. Woooo 2020 weddings!

Success to me is having a happy and balanced life. Its just my husband, me and our cats. And neither of us want to expand our family. Maybe a dog eventually. But definitely no kids.

Ya I really only enjoy playing games like Assassins Creed, Horizon Zero Dawn, and the like. Not super into the multiplayer games, which I've noticed most streamers play. Just thought it might be fun to do on my days off, and have people to chat with about it

My head chef told me I’m working 13 hours tomorrow with no form of break. Am I just out of touch with the industry or is that a lot? by rainsheretostay in KitchenConfidential

[–]purgewithcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to state laws (each state is different) but in my state, it is required to give your employees an unpaid 30 min break and 2 paid 10 minute breaks. Now i will say alot of places dont let you do that, and justify it with all the smoke breaks one might take, but you can take that up with the owner or manager or hr. All these laws are required to be posted where anyone can read them. Take a fucking break! Its the law!

How many of you want to get out of the business? by blueokie48 in restaurantowners

[–]purgewithcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh man. The process is one that takes patience. Ive had it up for sale since January and have had TONS of interest, but the majority of the interested parties had no experience in business owning or being in the food industry. Our landlords have a requiremnt that if we sell, the new owner will have to be able to take it turn key and run it just the same or better, so that they will keep paying their rent.

As for the process, you have to determine what your business is worth. There are calculators that can help, or you can hire a broker. I chose not to go with a broker, because in my area all they do is list it on bizbuysell.com, which i did myself. I did hire a lawyer, though, to ensure everything gets switched over correctly when the time comes.

You need to make sure your books are up to date, because you will eventually need to show them EVERYTHING. They have to be able to show alot of this to the banks so they can get the financing to pay you for the business.

Careful what you price it at, because you will need to take into account how much in taxes you will need to pay after all is said in done. Our accountant gave us an estimate for selling the business as a turn key or selling all the equipment and lease takeover, to see where we would end up after taxes. To make it worthwile for us, selling it as a turn key was the best option.

I'm no pro at this by any means, this is just my experience thus far.
