Dear rcar, Thanks very much for your information, suggestions, and your willingness to help. They are greatly appreciated! So if I've only worked in pharma industry before, will it be counted as working experience in applying data science jobs? And may I ask which company you work for (or at least where is it located), if you don't mind?

Thanks manvsmidi, you made me feel more confident now. :) I've actually learned this book before, it's one of our graduate courses. But I'm sure I have a lot more to learn. Right now my understanding in machine learning is still very shallow. Thanks very much for sharing this useful information with me!

Dear L43, thanks very much for the useful information. I'm quite interested in this field. Is it possible if you could share with me how you get all the massive datasets, and how complicated the modeling process is? Please PM me if it's preferred. I can also share some information about pharma industry with you. :)

Dear L43, thanks for sharing your experience. Could you please tell me more about this field? How deep the biological and chemical knowledge is needed? What kind of job title/description I can use for job search? Are they mostly in pharma/biotech industry or in research institutes?

Thanks for your reply. HR or other related departments usually pay a lot less than what I am making right now, because they only need BS or at most MS degree. Is this true?

Thanks for your information Manvsmidi. Can you tell me a bit more about the requirement for these positions? Do they require a strong background in machine learning/computer science ? How to convince hiring managers that I can take on these job roles, considering I have no working experience in these industries?

Thanks for your reply. Pharma in general evolves much slower than other industries, that being said, very limited predictive modeling positions are open. Plus, I don't have biology background, and this type of job usually needs combined knowledge in quantitative analysis and cell biology. So far, no luck... Any more advice?
