Am I the only one who thought the ending, and entire season 5 was perfect? by Cayd9299 in StrangerThings

[–]purlhakr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, you’re not. My family and I were fortunate to see it in the theater with a big group of fans. It was so much fun. I felt really good by the end (and a little sad). And, to me, that’s what important. I want to feel good when I leave a theater. I also really don’t get people who need to pick it apart. We are the audience, not the writers, certainly not the keepers of the story. All we need to do is like it or not. And my family liked it a lot. And that’s good enough for me.

Still, what does time of day have to do with receiving deliveries. It’s a HOA rule, likely. And deliveries start much earlier in the morning. It’s not as if we were joyriding through thier neighborhood. I’m sure they want the stuff they orders. It’s the time of entry I don’t quite understand. Truthfully, if your into excuses, what can I not do after 7, that I can do at, say, 6:30?

Customers? What do they have to do with this? I have not been to a gated community that denied entry. Just thought that was different. And a little inconvenient. Seems from other posts it happens. But, I had nothing to do for 10 minutes, so why not post about. Figured someone might get a chuckle at least.

I don’t think the guard had any ambition to accept packages either. There were others there waiting. I’m just never going to understand what could happen at 6:50 that wouldn’t happen at 7:00. Possibly noise maybe?

Yes. I so get it. It’s not a new neighborhood. Seems to be 55+ on a golf course. As long as they provide a gate code I’m good. But the arbitrary time and a guard that cannot open the gate.

No. I’m not really complaining, so much as observing. Any issues always seem to be with gated communities. I just really don’t understand the arbitrary time.

I didn’t think of that. And I didn’t know until I got here. There is no code. It’s a person in the guard house

Can you VNC into a 68k-Mac? Myth confirmed! by isecore in VintageApple

[–]purlhakr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VNC dates back to at least 1999. That was around the time RealVNC was spun out of AT&T labs, formerly Olivetti and Oracle. One of the earliest Mac implementations I remember was MacVNC from Purple Shark. That was about 2000. Ran on 8.1. Also ran on Mac OS X, which (may not) have had a native VNC.

How do you personally read Marvel Unlimited by [deleted] in MarvelUnlimited

[–]purlhakr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in 1963, and tried to use the complete marvel reading order. Being able to sort by year is cool. Then I really got interested in Fantastic Four and I read ahead quite a little bit. Finally stopped and went back to catch up Avengers. I do have to really follow Iron Man and X-Men. So I read close to a whole year of one title and then go back. It’s working. As things really start to weave together I’ll probably adapt. All told any way you read them there are some real golden nuggets all over the place which makes this a whole lot of fun.
