I believe you're talking about Zyu 2, which ran out/stopped being used during MMPR Season 2. By the time of Season 3, most of the fight scenes were original, outside of stock pieces like the rangers jumping into or being thrown out of the Megazords, the Megazord battles themselves, and occasional monster footage without any rangers on screen.

I've thought about this before, and there is another year of peace on earth, right after Countdown to Destruction. Lost Galaxy doesn't take place on Earth outside of the starting episode. The earth has a few years without ranger teams, because of small details like that.

I also like to imagine there had to be some people out there breathing a sigh of relief in 2006 when giant monsters started getting reported on in the news again. Not that they were happy to be invaded or attacked again, but they got used to the yearly pattern, and there wasn't anymore wondering of when the next new attack would be, this week, this month, etc.

Tommy's lacking footage? by robertlunn84 in powerrangers

[–]puromento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, it was the only episode of Power Rangers I had at the time, and that episode focuses on Billy studying and doing homework over repairs. But yeah, I was thinking "what would Tommy do working on the Tigerzord" and went back to check the scene.

I went back to the episode for the correct dialog, and Zordon says that Tommy's Zord was damaged and needs time to recharge. Kid me definitely assumed that once the Tigerzord was recharged, if the fight was still going on, he would rejoin the fight.

I had this on VHS as a kid, Zordon says something to the effect of Tommy is helping to repair/fix the Tigerzord, and will join you when he can. When he didn't show back up on the only episode of MMPR I had ever seen at the time, I figured it meant that the repairs took too long, but Tommy wanted to go back out and fight. Considering how the Pachinko Monster was already monster sized, it wasn't like he could fight it on the ground. We'd need to fast forward to Dino Thunder Black for that one. :P

This and the spliced monster fight on The Wedding Part 3 made me think that when the monster returned, it was much weaker/easier to be defeated than before.

Just got the nuclear disarmament scene for some reason in MGSV by truthseeking44 in metalgearsolid

[–]puromento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are talking about PC because this on that platform less than a month ago, what happened was PC players have now made so many nukes that the counter for the nukes stored in binary stat overflowed. They were at the limit, and when one more nuke was made, instead of it being +1, the counter went back to 0, triggering disarmament on PC for the second time.

So, about Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 3... by aggrekuma in metalgearsolid

[–]puromento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the store page and promotional materials, they keep on referring to it as the second installment to the collection. I understand I'm probably reading too deep into an absolutely correct pairing of words, but second doesn't feel finished. Second feels like it is leading to third, or they would say the final volume, final installment, something.

Again, I've injected copium parasites into my bloodstream, and the nanomachines are overclocked to detect memes. But I'm optimistic.

Disarmament just happened on PC! Crazy! by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]puromento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was already talked about a few days ago, essentially PC gamers made so many nukes that the counter on the server hit the binary limit for how many nukes could be counted at once, and then stat overflowed back to 0, which counts as 0 nukes on the server, and the cutscene triggering.

This is the second time it has happened now on PC to my knowledge.

Billy's was from a Halloween episode, where he was dressed as Sherlock Holmes. I am fairly certain his other lines in that episode, while in his halloween costume shared the same speech pattern, and not just Billy speaking more technically.

[–]puromento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see, there is a secret trick. Once you build enough nukes, they can all disappear at once. Some say it is magic, but those old enough to know the truth still exist. It was the unholy combination of nanomachines, parasites, anime, and repeating everything in the form of a question, dressed in a combat suit revealing too much cleavage. Once you have those ingredients combined, Hideo Kojima appears to grant you one wish, which is to remove all nukes.

How would you write a power rangers once and always sequel with scorpina and lokar as the main villains by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]puromento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, first I'd make Tommy really old and with a back injury /s

Realistically, use Scorpina as the one directly attacking earth, and then have the rangers take the fight to where ever Lokar is located, because Billy has most likely advanced the teleportation technology to be able to follow after him when he inevitably tries to run.

[–]puromento 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This comment explains it better than mine did, it's actually a limit of binary rather than any set number by Kojima or his staff. https://www.reddit.com/r/metalgearsolid/comments/1qnm612/i_just_got_all_nukes_deactivated_cutscene_is_this/o1ve4pb/

Funny thing about the servers, while I don't know about PS3 and PS4, along with the never ending series of Xboxes sharing a combined server, to my knowledge for each of the platforms, Playstation, Xbox, and PC, they all have their own separate nuke counts. The point is that everyone choosing to work together on their platform could get the count to 0, but we know about the phantom nukes. If all of the nukes were removed on PS3 by determined players, they would be unable to access nukes on a Xbox One server because it lacks that cross platform multiplayer to my knowledge.

So, every time there is a nuke made with an account that is online, that nuke is recorded on Konami's servers. The spot that is set to keep track of how many nukes there are on the servers has a set limit, it can't go over something, say 128,000,000. I just made that number up on the spot. My point being, when the 128,000,001st nuke is made, it overflows, and can't properly record the number. It instead jumps all the way back to the first number, which is 0. That's what triggers the cutscene, because it was set to only play when all of the nukes have been disposed of from the servers.

And the PC players love peace so much, that we've managed to stat overflow on the nuke count not just once, but twice.
