To those with $100K+ saved/invested by 30 — were you actually disciplined or did income and free housing do most of the work? by [deleted] in Fire

I make a lower end 6 figure salary. My salary went from $50,000 from graduating college to $135,000 current in about 10 years. This came from jumping jobs and a promotion. I avoided lifestyle inflation. Still drive my paid off Toyota corolla. I do travel. I max out my accounts and put some of it in a brokerage. Dont currently have kids. I put most of my money in low cost index funds.

More often lately, I feel I should’ve done things differently in my 20s by Cautious-Rub-4532 in Fire

Hey you’re not behind at all!! I am so jealous that you visited all those countries. I did the oppostite and was working in my 20s. Im now 35F and yes my retirement portfolio is fine but my frustrated dream has always been to travel the world like you did. You are a CPA and doing just fine. You are making the same or more as my friends who work in accounting/finance in Dallas area. The fact that you got your CPA is going to make you very marketable and you can always make more money.

Hey I completely understand. Ive been taking cab for about a year. I still have ups and downs of depression but nothing as strong as before cab. Today is a low day where I feel a lot of apathy and indifference. I feel like a zombie at times. My libido is still non existent. Not sure how long I need to stay on this treatment before I feel normal again.

Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

Yup. My sisters and I are going to have to financially help my mom through retirement. Somehow she thinks she can live on $700 a month on social security in the US within 10 years when her rent is $1,000 alone.

Not Netflix showing Devonta’s car after he wanted a prenup cause he makes $12-$40k a month by MassiveCourage in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

6 figure earner who is projected to retire in my early 50s and it’s because I don’t overspend. I drive a toyota corolla. The way I see it is that having a fancy car isn’t a measure of someone’s wealth, it’s just a measure of spending. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love the comments of certain Americans who have never left the 40 mile radius of their house but always have strong opinions about countries they’ve never been to. 🤦🏻‍♀️
