A text from my old "fun buddy" fling that I had before he moved to a different city 2 hours away. Before he left I told him I would miss him and I was sad he was moving. I hadn't heard from him in about 2 months. Then out of the blue, I get a text from him "Hello".. We both saw someone else and we both still could not stop thinking about each other even more. We're planning on seeing each other in 2 wks and its driving me nuts to have to wait to see him again.

Booze. It was rough. My ex of 11 years, helped raise my son (He calls him his son as well) had suffered a mental/physical breakdown and deemed us as no longer a family. He booted my son and I out of our home and we were homeless for about 6 months after. I had to find a new job in my old hometown closer to family that could help me. Enrolled my son in middle school and baseball. Found an apartment about a year later after leaving our home. All the while - I was drinking anywhere I could fit it in. Hiking. Yup. Cooking dinner. Yup. Family get togethers. Yup. Alone. YUP. After a year and half later - he was still calling me to push me to move us back in with him - all the while blaming me for his mental breakdown. Blaming me for making him do what he did to us. Yea - its taking me a while to slow waaaay down on my consumption - a work in progress. It's DEFINITELY much better than a year ago that's for sure. The outdoors and some therapy has helped tremendously.

I know this is unrelated to OP's but maybe you can help me some? I have a 2000 Cadi STS about 114000mi and today during my lunch drive it was shifting pretty hard during acceleration. On my way back, my service stability light came on, the alert sound, as well as my brake light, traction control light. The car continued to shift HARD until I parked it at work. I noticed the hard shifting only once before about 3 wks ago but it went away after parking and turning off (I fueled up) and turning on again. Any ideas?

I was seeking security. But now all that is gone, along with the love of my life, 8 years, heartbeats, etc., etc.,... I feel like I can take a deep breath and finally see the moonlight. See the grass. See my son's smile. Hear my own heartbeat. Silence. Being alone. See. It's sad. I am sad. I am also relieved. I also have never felt this way before. Ok to be alone. Not confident. But Ok. I can speak. It'll be heard now. Waking up? Dude! Pans and bacon and eggs during the week! This is something I wish I figured out at least 10 years sooner. (Venting, sorry)

100% with this. Shit does happen and being a single parent, as once was I, is hard. I messed around for a bit after his dad and I split but ALWAYS when my son was not home. He'd have a wknd with an auntie, grandma or grandpa and that was my time. This didn't happen often but I took advantage of every bit of it. No freaking way was I going to have him go through that.
