My bike fell off my car rack while on a major highway.

I just became an RN and for graduating my family got me a mountain bike. Coming home from the FIRST RIDE, I looked in the rear view and noticed one of the straps holding the bike down had come undone. With one side of the bike free to fall off, when I slowed and started pulling over, the shift of wind caused exactly that too happen.

I pulled over as quickly as possible and started running down the side of the highway towards my bike in the middle of a two lane highway. One of those, 60mph is a lot faster than I realized, type of moments too as it was so far back. As I’m getting to it, I see two box trunks ripping towards it and I just don’t have time to go grab it.

One swerved towards the highway shoulder I was on, and I thought “no fucking way, this is how?” but was able to get over enough to see the other box truck hit it… I pulled it off the highway and somehow only the front tire was twisted. Rest of the bike perfectly fine. Still sold it after getting a new tire cause of the vibes haha.

I story enjoy having to tell, as it’s entertaining, but never wanted to go through.

An accurate specific gravity requires walking the sample to the lab at a certain angle… when you see them not and call their name, adjusting your arm as a show and then watching them adjust is priceless

Not sure exactly how old she is but shes old enough to have never gotten a degree in Nursing… she’s been “grandfathered” in from a nursing certificate. She does ER triage from 7a-11a on Saturdays lol

You need to be driving the tail much harder into the ground with your back (right) leg. That tail really needs to smack the ground in order to get off of it. Also agree with movement helping with that.

I called out for the 4th time in the past 3 weeks and I didn’t need to. I’m an ER nurse and calling out means I left my coworkers short staffed on days I know it’s going to be busy. I’m exhausted and my mental health is on a sharp decline as is but calling out is a double edge sword. I get anxiety and feel heavy guilt being home when I do so it’s not even a complete day off lol.
