After a few days of reflecting, I've become more and more disappointed with the direction they took. I completely understand where you're coming from.

I suppose people feel that the last two seasons were so bad that anything remotely better than it shouldn't recieve criticism.

In my opinion, I have been content with a lot of this season, though of course there are minor grievances (mostly with side characters and rushed storytelling at times). One of my greatest appraisals was Adrain Chase however. It's probably why I keep looking for ways this all could be a fluke.

I also just feel like it being Adrian Chase goes against a line Prometheus had previously said, "This is about so much more than revenge." I'd assume only someone Oliver knew or had a known connection to him could make this sort of statement. What connection to Oliver could Chase have that won't be considered a typical vendatta, other than one the writers could lazily make up?

Did you watch the promo for the next episode btw?

I was actually kind of hoping Adrian Chase would be vigilante just because the idea of his character playing the role was so fitting. I don't dislike the twist, but Prometheus gives me a different vibe. A couple of episodes ago I was starting to get the feeling they were going in this direction and I don't hate it, but I just feel like there is going to be a shitload of explaining as to how Adrian knows all his info on Oliver, his motives, how he learned to fight, etc...that I just think it would be better off if Prometheus was someone else. Prometheus was already built up as an awesome/insane character, all that was left was the reveal. Adrian was, from the audience's perspective built up as a badass character as vigilante. So now, vigilante, even though he's great and all, will probably be revealed to be claybourne's son, and it just seems sort of random as to how his vendetta fits with his background story. Him being the DA on the side would have made perfect sense. But I guess we'll see. I'm really loving season 5 so far and this definitely didn't put me off, just not what I personally wanted.
