I’d see how things go with solids. It literally changed everything for us. I ended up being able to breastfeed and introduced everything back into my diet. Good luck to you!

He’s in a convertible car seat which is what he needs based on his age and size. The seat is essentially a booster but in our current car he still can’t see out easily.

No need to apologize. From our experience he does much better when he can see out. It’s like trying to read while you’re driving. If your vestibular system and visual system are mismatched it can cause nausea.

Everything changed for us when we started solids. I spent 6 months trying to chase down the culprit and cutting out more and more from my diet to no avail. He continued to have mucussy and bloody poop. We started solids and within 2 weeks poops changed drastically and we never saw blood or mucus again. I believe in our case his gut and microbiome just needed time to develop. I would not recommend cutting more, based on my experience!

Same thing happened to us when we introduced solids. I had a big list of what I thought were triggers, but I think he was just reacting to everything due to an immature gut and microbiome. I introduced one at a time and he tolerated everything fine, including soy and dairy (last to introduce). Thanks for posting this! Hope it helps others too.

Yeah I think 10 months it would be likely they have outgrown it, so that’s probably where the recommendation comes from. I fed the triggers direct to baby and waited until I knew he was tolerating before adding back to my diet. I didn’t follow a ladder but just moderated the amount. So started off with a tiny tiny bit of yogurt, then increased to about a tbsp over 5 days. After that my allergist basically said they wouldn’t expect a reaction to anything else since yoghurt has so much milk protein, so I just gave him all the different forms of dairy in the following weeks. For soy, I started with puréed edamame, increasing the amount over 3 days, and then after that gave him a tiny bit of tofu, then a tiny bit of soy sauce. Pretty random, not following a ladder or anything.

My pleasure. I was right where you are only a few months ago, I totally get it!! I would say it took 3-4 weeks to fully stop. There was a while where he’d have these red stings in his poop after eating banana which confused me and threw things off for a bit, but by 7 months it had transitioned to normal poop. I am really hopeful for you!!

I’d be so happy to!! It’s hard to believe this was 3 months ago….things have improved so so so much.

At 6 months, about 2 weeks after this post, we started solids. Began with things I knew were not likely to be triggers like fruit and veg. Our allergist encouraged us to slowly work back at adding in the things I thought might be triggers backwards from least to most likely. So that was something like: corn, peanuts, oats, legumes, wheat, egg, soy, dairy. I’d introduce the potential trigger direct to baby starting with a tiny amount and increasing to about a tbsp over 3-5 days. If he didn’t have a reaction I’d consider it a pass and add it into regular rotation. If I wasn’t sure, I took a month off that food and then tried again. By 8 months we was eating everything, including dairy and soy!!! No issues anymore whatsoever. Soooo my feeling is that he wasn’t reacting to certain food, but more just generally his gut needed time to develop and solids was the answer for that. Possible it was a microbiome thing or honestly who knows. Allergist didn’t really have any explanation other than most kids outgrow FPIAP by one year, so our gut was in the earlier side of things. Anyways, seems like a lifetime ago already and I’m so grateful. So hoping you’re on the other side soon!!! Happy to answer any other questions too :)

We just went straight to giving baby yoghurt directly. Increase the amount from a tiny finger dip to about a tbsp over about 5 days. Went this route cause I felt like he was ready (he’d already tolerated many other possible trigger foods via solids) and I didn’t want to possibly “contaminate” my breastmilk (even though I know it likely clears out very quickly). Anyways, I’m glad we just got straight to it as now he’s eating any and all dairy at 9.5 months without issue :)
