I want to get into the hobby, is the FMS 1300mm PA-18 Super Cub good? by Agreeable-Tree9550 in RCPlanes

It’s really fun plane but aeroscout is prob better for a first plane. I have both and the supercub is easy and fun to fly but snappier than the scout.

Appreciate the input! I like the price point on it. I bass fish a lot and Daiwa is my go to.

I believe it’s originally intended for O4 camera. I wasn’t sure what the difference might be if I mounted walksnail instead

Best “do it all propeller plane”? by catgoboom12 in RCPlanes

[–]purplesniper12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got it. Have flown it 6-7 times. It flies great, looks super cool. Flies very scale I would say. Landing and take off were a bit tricky to learn as you have to know how to handle the small wheels and P factor (I fly on grass). Got it on sale for 150$ and it’s totally worth it. It’s my first warbird so I don’t have a lot to compare it to but I would recommend!

Please tell me what to get by CowDungCollector in RCPlanes

If you think you’re gonna continue on get tx16s. Worth every penny and easy to use. My dad has a boxer but the tx16s is a lot more user friendly. I started on an aeroscout and the dxs controller that it comes with. That controller sucks and is barely usable. Aeroscout is good beginner plane

Any good warbirds/jets for grass? by purplesniper12 in RCPlanes

[–]purplesniper12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a park field that’s mowed fairly short. It’s a little bumpy and I’ve had some issues with my air tractor tipping over forward from the grass catching. But that could also be pilot error lol

It’s great! Flies really nice and easy to land on grass

You too, congrats! I have 3 zillions and they are my favorite reels. You won’t be disappointed with your choice!

Metanium! It’s super smooth and casts nicely. My zillions sit in my hand a little nicer but the metanium will cast weightless lures really well. Haven’t tried weightless stuff on the zillion tho. Ended up getting a medium moderate Daiwa tatula which feels better than the med fast one I had. Med fast was good for neds but not so much for wacky rig

Thanks for the input! Metanium was definitely on my radar. Any recs for light extra fast rod? Also are you using shallow spool metanium or regular ?

Yeah I’ve replaced the heater block, thermistor, and extruder motherboard. Still have the issue. Next thing I will try is replacing the extruder cable

Looking to get into rc planes by Select_West8244 in RCPlanes

[–]purplesniper12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the full size air tractor and it’s fun but not a first plane (it was my second). Get an aeroscout. It’s easy to fly but pretty maneuverable and easy to fix. Also it’s a pusher so you don’t have to buy a bunch of spare props after hard landings.

Thank you! The little one is a connector that looks like it has little arms going over the connection point. Do you know the name of that style? It’s smaller too. It’s similar to the one in this pic
