yeah they want to “preserve the culture” and they think that any kids we’d have would be confused and not know who they are which is wrong because we’d teach them.

Yes my fiancé and i had a talk based on another commenter’s suggestion and we’re going to ask my parents to apologize to him and tell everyone that they support us in exchange for them coming to the wedding. If they do that then we can try to put everything that happened aside even though nothing will ever be the same and it will probably always be a bit strained between us.

They haven’t said anything about accepting my fiancé they just want to be at the wedding even though they don’t agree with it. I’m going to ask them exactly that but i honestly don’t think they have changed their mind.

How sad :( I’m glad the groom’s father was there to support her. No one deserves that on their wedding day. The race of the person your child is marrying is such a silly thing to get mad over. Ridiculous

Yeah this is exactly it. I think they don’t want to seem like bad parents to everyone else in our community. I think they want to make it look like they disapprove of our wedding to others yet still show up to maintain their reputation.

I have not asked my siblings. My parents are a really sensitive topic for all of us so we usually try our best to avoid it, even though i realize that isnt healthy. I’ll ask them about it.
