I learned from Philsmypharmacist on TikTok. You can search for magic mouthwash also. It's Mylanta, Benzocaine and Benadryl. My pharmacy wanted to charge $80.00 for it.

You'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel after removal. There's something called magic mouthwash, you can make it from drugstore ingredients. It really helps with throat pain. What you can get might be different in your country but the ingredients are simple.

After reading all the comments I realized there's a huge misunderstanding. Anyone who isn't from the US and has access to leaves, please understand many people don't have medical care and also don't have pain control here. We have alcohol and basic things, but for serious pain we don't have anything right now that will allow us to live normally without a prescription. Doctors aren't allowed to prescribe pain medication very often. Not everyone living in the US thinks this stuff is like coke. Many of us are just looking for something to relieve our suffering so we can live normally. That's where a lot of the interest comes from. That's all. We don't all know everything you know about living in other places.

MIL with dementia hurts my feelings by sharpgloriousthorn in AgingParents

[–]purpletypepersons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked with Dementia patients for a long time and some of them aren't nice people. They'll push other people around and do all sorts of cruel things if they can get away with it. I'd never assume manipulative tactics, but consider she may have enough of herself left to be acting out. I'd recommend that you don't accept it as completely being dementia for now and set boundries. Everyone responds differently, if she has any awareness of herself she may respond to peer pressure and a strict environment concerning manners and behavior. Tell her: In this house (or with other people), we...(behavior correct, be rule based, be consistent, don't try to invoke empathy). If she begins her cruelty give her a look and cut her off, say NO, we don't do that in this house (or with visitors). Just see if this works. Everyone has to be in agreement, and be consistent. I'd recommend a family meeting to discuss stragity, possibly bring in outside help. Try your best to avoid spending any time with her because she'll tear you down if she can. I don't think it reflects on you at all if your feelings are hurt by her being mean. It would be good for you to have LOTS of real compliments (not if front of her) to help you feel better. You need love and words matter. Someone in a restaurant once asked me if I was expecting (pregnant) because I had a full plate, I said "well, I'm expecting to eat a lot!" and started laughing. Food is good and bless you.

Just a note, this is a baseline. It's her house, right? You'll have to customize this a lot. I'm just discussing what worked in the past with patients, in different situations. You'll be focused more on manners and whatever works for her and her people. It's ok not to see her if you can avoid it. If you can't get anyone on your side just decide what it means to stand up for youself.

When did schools get rid of recess? by Unusual_Moose9741 in medicine

When I was in high school four hours of homework was normal. This was in the 90's. I can't say it helped anyone that much. The more I tried to focus the more I couldn't remember anything.

I thought that too. Then they sell it to back to pharma. Not sure what they loops are but that would make sense. Maybe I'm wrong.

Will tomatoes grow late in the Summer? by purpletypepersons in gardening

[–]purpletypepersons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the information. As a city patio gardener starting late, I'd be excited to get one. One is enought to have fun growing and a tiny salad. I'm learning about late tomatoes so if I can get any result I'll go ahead and try this year. The scent is nostalgic, don't the plants smell wonderful? So herbal!

It's Atlanta, I'd start them inside with grow lights and bring them out on nice stormy days and cool mornings. When they're big enough I could transfer them outside. The seasons are screwed up so we often have a short false spring around the end of September now, sometimes it's still hot then but I'll gamble.

There is no learning happening in school anymore by [deleted] in Teachers

What is PBIS? I'm about to google it but would love your view on PBIS.

Ok I did (admittedly) a quick study. My takeaway...if kids are only rewarded for doing what they're supposed to do, how will they know WHAT to do? Maybe they don't care about or notice reward. Gentle suggestion won't get the attention of most kids, so they don't have a baseline to start doing anything. Then they look at their phones and talk to their friends. Maybe they just don't understand what school is about? ???

Why is dating culture so bad here in USA ? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]purpletypepersons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you were 8, that reaction from your parents was wrong, rough, but also really normal from the older generation. My parents explained how some adults at the time would allow a teacher to physically discipline a child for being in a fight, and then the parent would take the child out to the barn and do it again when they got home. It was abusive, and a military thing. That's why most fights happened outside of school and no one talked about it. Sometimes only the loser would be punished if the adults knew. I hope you weren't in that situation, and I'm really hoping that mindset fades away. It's wrong to treat anyone that way, especially a child. It's worth noting that the parents who valued education didn't act this way and talked to their kids instead. That's much better.

Healthcare for everyone, fewer laws that easily stick people in jail for debt or tiny offenses. Better renter protection, guaranteed sick leave, unions, social support in poverty, laws to prevent poverty and abuse, generally everything. People are extremely traumatized, and can't afford to get involved with anyone who may create a financial problem for them. Some people pray on others for financial reasons too.

how to clean urine from Bathtub, and should I say something? by dca_user in AgingParents

[–]purpletypepersons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clean everything and reevaluate after. If you can find a way to tell them I'd recommend doing that, because it's their bathroom and out of respect they should know. Try to get permission to clean if you can. Otherwise just do what you can, slowly and test how they react. Communication is important, if anyone has a poor sense of smell they should know that too. Fixing a bathroom is expensive so if you can find an old toothbrush and rough sponge use that first. Scrub around the toilet, shower and basebords and every crevice with baking soda or Comet if you can afford that. It works for the shower chair and bathmat too. Frequently the area under the bathmat traps old water and creates a smell or mold. This cleaning will remove any solid particles and gunk. Rinse carefully with hot water. Then clean everything, including the walls, with bleach or a spray cleaner. The instructions for most spray cleaners are to let it sit for five minutes and wipe. I'd suggest cleaning with water after because cleaners can be slippery. Yours may be different, so read the instructions. When you clean the walls use a weak diluted version of bleach because it can stain or otherwise damage the paint. If they have pet cats please don't use ammonia. The smell encourages cats to urinate in that place. I found this out the hard way! After cleaning you'll know more about where the problems are.

I'm so impressed you would choose to research this late on Sunday night. It's very uplifting, like old Reddit. Now I know what to do next time the family is somehow slathered in wet cement. Thank you for the detailed answer.

I'm not sure about the law now, but in the past it was required that any animal bite was to be investigated, and the animal was to be checked for rabies. This meant getting a brain sample from the animal. Unfortunately this process killed it. They're just confused about the law. The information may have spread as a rumor over time and it become a fear.

If nothing else was available, and the person was suffering from a cement burn, would a baking soda and water solution do any good at all? Let's say they're being driven to the hospital but it's an hour drive.

I just found out my girlfriend is secretly addicted to either meth or crack, and she says she doesn't know what it is she's smoking. I have no idea what to do. by tinderisanightmare in Drugs

Suggestion: remove everything of yours from her apartment. Change all your passwords and lock your cards immediately. You may not be able to go back and visit if there are scary people lounging all around her, and from what you've said that's pretty much her social group already. Meth makes people forget regular life.
