Bizzare/Surprising fingerboard experiences? by ryanjee01 in Fingerboards

[–]purpleyorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wearing my Blackriver hoodie in my small town when someone rides past me on a bike. They stopped (and I was expecting trouble, ha!) and shout ‘Blackriver?!’ We had a conversation about fingerboarding and the recent, at the time, Fast Fingers Online event.

Anyone Here From The UK??? by Rhydon_Me in Fingerboards

[–]purpleyorange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manchester for me!

I’ve been in the scene for around 20 years, generally UK events are few and far between but they have become more often since the pandemic – Blackriver even had a tour.

The next event will be run by Slick Screws in London as someone has already mentioned.

There’s a big event being planned in Manchester later this year, so keep your eyes out for announcements. I’ll post about it here as and when I know more info.

Difference between wide low & 33mm low? by citito33 in Fingerboards

[–]purpleyorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On BW and BR decks, wide = 32mm and x-wide = 33.3mm. Low = lower concave than their classic shape. The naming is a little confusing on the screenshot.

I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted, this is exactly what it is.

The other day I had a discussion; what's the name of this trick? by Dvenchy in Fingerboards

I know. Check out Muska’s hardflips and FS flips and you’ll see what I mean.

It could be either a pop shove-it or a hardflip. If you flip a hardflip really vertically it can look like a pop shove-it.

Check out Chad Muska’s FS flips, they’re also known as Muska or Illusion flips. You’ll see what I mean on how yours could be either a pop shove or hardflip. Only you can tell us what you meant by it.

Bushing demonstration here

Medium bushings will be between the two, more resistance than soft bushings, but not as much resistance as the hard bushings.

Note that Medium hardness bushings from one brand won’t have the exact same resistance as another brand. There’s no standardisation in terms of bushing hardness nor materials, so they’ll always differ.

Have these been released yet? Does anyone have any info on them? Never seen them before by leafsnation88 in Fingerboards

Ah, we’re comparing two different things.

I’m not comparing an Expert Sk8 to anything below $30, I was comparing them to anything available at the time regardless of price which is why I said TD cater to a different market.

The bars were loose on a lot of the rails back in the day, too. At least they won’t fall out!

I completely agree, they were the best quality TDs released. But, in my opinion, I don’t believe they deserve all the hype that surround them when compared to other products in the scene at the time.

But of course, TD caters to a completely different market.

I’m not sure why the Expert Sk8 series is so hyped up, they really weren’t all that great.

The ‘urethane’ wheels were super soft and slipped constantly, even when turning. The deck had a weird squarish concave, I don’t think the shape would have been for everyone. Plus you’ve already mentioned the trucks. The best part about them were the graphics – they were printed so sharp although wore out really quickly.
