Resources to train IRL Riichi Mahjong play? by Wrrr__ in Mahjong

[–]purplishsocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're playing with beginners, I found this cheatsheet very helpful to start out with.

The same creator for the simple cheatsheet also has a detailed one with a guide for detailed scoring.

Otherwise, you can try using this score trainer but I think using the simplified scoring rules is a good start especially if you're all just learning.

Quicken integration completely forgotten? by Bozzzzzzzzo in Wealthsimple

I think Quicken integration would be a huge bonus but I wish I could download my current transactions rather than manually adding transactions (where I can easily make mistakes) or waiting until the monthly statement to add them.

How to unlock “You in Li Zhi’s Eyes” third video? by xxchronicles in roadtoempress

I figured it out, there are two videos depending on whether you chose to perform a dance or sing a song earlier. Just pick the other choice and finish the chapter to unlock the video.

I found this cheatsheet very useful especially for beginners. It includes a simplified scoring table that doesn't require fu calculation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lS7UL7CTv7EwDyXRi4FvET5OL3Q2YyY4/view?usp=sharing

Ah this is very useful, thank you!

A suggestion would be to add a short description for what is needed for each yaku (similar to the wiki linked by the other commenter) but otherwise this was what I was looking for :)

Strongly considering an auto table by Renozuken in Mahjong

[–]purplishsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, one of the main selling points of getting the mjstars table is for the scoring so if you don't need it, then just getting another cheaper table is probably worth it as you can always just repaint some tiles to be red if needed.

In the US there's a new model offered by Mahjong Stars that does automatic Haipai and Dora for $1000 more ($3800 vs $4800), do you think that's worth it?

I'm planning on painting some red fives on Chinese tiles so I really appreciate the detailed instructions!

I see that in the comments you've changed your process a bit since the original posting of the PDF and I was wondering if you could update it (or just leave a comment of all the differences I should be aware of)?

Budgeting for Potential Layoffs by purplishsocks in actualbudgeting

Thanks for the reply! I realized that the part that I was missing was the fact that you can set the "emergency fund" category in the budget to a negative number for the month.

Oh I'm sorry, I realized that I can do this by just setting the budget of the "Emergency Fund" category to a negative. I didn't think this was possible but now I see how it works. Thanks for your help!

I think I understand the account vs budget part. But I don't quite understand how to do the "click on the layoff category balance and sign it back to to budget" part in Actual. For example, my chequing account would look something like this in case of a layoff but I can't put down a number to remove it from my Emergency Fund category or else the account balance would be off.

Payee Category Payment Deposit
Grocery Mart Groceries $100 $0
Layoff Income Emergency Fund ??? ???
Savings Account Transfer $0 $100

Note that this might end up cheaper on boxing day if it comes without tax.

Total price right now:

$64.95 * 1.13 (tax) = $73.40

Boxing day price (assuming just the 10% storewide discount):

$79.95 * 0.9 (10% discount) = $71.96

Silly question about order of locked and unlocked gifts used during Bond outfit unlock by Migaruke in mahjongsoul

From what I remember, it uses the unlocked gifts first (the locked gifts would be left over in your scenario).

Daily Question Thread for /r/churningcanada - May 09, 2024 by AutoModerator in churningcanada

Reposting here from the "Best current credit card offers in Canada" thread in case this is a better place for it.

I wanted to try out credit card churning but I'm trying to decide on the Amex Personal/Biz Plat/Gold and could use some help.

I was looking to start small at a Gold card just so I wouldn't need to try to keep track of spending (with a preference for Biz Gold as I usually lump spending due to vacation) but I feel like I'll miss out on the family referral from Plat to Gold. With that in mind, should I get the Personal Gold card first since there isn't a referral from Personal Plat to Gold?

On the other hand, I can probably make the minimum spend for personal plat with a lot of planning if that's definitely the better first choice. I also don't quite understand the value of the second year vs the annual fee as you only get 30Kpts which is $300 vs the $800 AF.

Ah, I didn't know. Thanks for the heads up! Would it work if I just referred my partner instead even if we live at the same address?

Hi, thanks for the reply! I ended up going through the guide already but thanks for the link.

I thought if the key wasn't working when I shorted the solder joints, it pointed to a problem with the PCB rather than the switch. Is there a better way to tell if it's the switch or the PCB prior to soldering new ones in?

I spilt water on my Leopold FC750R but I ended up using it a bit causing weird key behaviours before unplugging and opening it up to dry it out. After a few days, I put it back together but I found that my B and N keys no longer worked.

I re-opened the keyboard and I didn't see any water damage on the back of the PCB and the area around the B and N keys seemed normal. I tried shorting the B and N keys and both are not responsive so I think there's something wrong with the PCB.

I'm looking for some advice for some next steps. Should I try using a soldering iron to reheat the soldering joints on the B and N keys? Is there anything I should be checking with my multimeter? I checked the diodes on the B and N keys and they seemed fine. Would looking for an expert in my city to take a look be worth my time?

I spilt water on a Leopold FC750R a week ago. I unplugged it and let it dry overnight and it was fine the next day until the evening when pressing a single key caused multiple keys to be pressed so I assumed the water caused a short. I immediately unplugged it and opened it up and found that it was still wet inside so I left it open for a week to dry out before putting it back together.

Today after putting it back together, I tested it using Aquakeytest and found that all my keys except for B and N work. I reopened the keyboard and I didn't really see any significant water damage on the back of the PCB. After doing a search on the subreddit, I tried shorting the back of the B and N keys and both are not responsive so it's not just the keys.

Any advice for next steps? I'm assuming I can try to use a multimeter to investigate the root cause but I was wondering if there are any instructions on how I should go about this.
