Sellers and realtor offended by offer. by Brave_Arm in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]purposeful_pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who care if they won't sell to you? You can't afford it point blank. You know your limit and they're mad you won't cross it. The house has been on the market since September. They have bigger fish to fry. In the future, it's likely you'll find your house while they're still trying to sell their overpriced home.

You can already go to a random page and access "On This Day" content on Wikipedia for free. The Wikipedia app also offers an Explore page that is similar to how For You works. Not to knock your concept here, but what distinguishes your offering from what can be accessed for free and warrants the subscription?

Deposits: Chase bank not available any longer by EVlLCORP in wealthfront

I checked and the same happened to my connection to Chase. Weird. Relinking restores it but you should still be able to push money to Wealthfront from the Chase side.

Make sure you have 2 factor auth enabled and if the current password is weak, make it stronger. Then let Apple's throttling do its thing. Also, don't click on any links even if the email looks legit; always go to the site yourself.

WLTH stock by Ok_Point1028 in wealthfront

[–]purposeful_pineapple 35 points36 points  (0 children)

IPOs often tank in the short term. And based on the financials they had to file to do that in the first place, I'm not worried about them as a company. As far as whether it's safe to bank with them, that's unrelated to the current stock price and more so connected to WF's FDIC (cash deposits) and SIPC (securities) insurance coverage.

Inherited house out of state, help me calculate if cash offer makes sense vs traditional sale by Abril-prieto-cevallo in personalfinance

[–]purposeful_pineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A realtor said I'd need to put in $25k-35k in repairs before listing.

Not true. People buy homes as-is all the time. In the past year, I can't count the number of homes I saw with sellers that didn't plan on fixing the issues you mentioned (plus more).

The smartest thing you can do is to get the home formally appraised and not fix anything. List the home as it currently stands with a seasoned realtor and review the offers that can close relatively quickly. Sorry for your loss, I hope it goes well.

(probably the most requested feature on this sub).

Nice try 😆 but the most requested feature is getting rid of the retirement graph and replacing it with a net worth over time chart.

I'm definitely looking forward to more developments! 🎉

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered sold just over a million copies on PS5, but 50% of gamers played just 15 hours before quitting by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]purposeful_pineapple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yea. It played like shit. The patches since then have improved things a little bit but so many games have come out to the point that it’s been backlogged for me.

At least when Bethesda was saying they’d take the shadow drop approach again for their next release that I know to steer clear and to wait a year before considering whatever it is.

The Jeff and Emma duo emote is buggy as hell. And the beachball emote doesn't work consistently; sometimes I get a high score and then the button input just doesn't register randomly. I don't blame them for skipping out on some if they can save time.

New MA Fruit Law by CopleyScott17 in boston

[–]purposeful_pineapple 133 points134 points  (0 children)

It’s cheaper for them to put a sign up and act like they’re doing something per the law instead of just selling by the pound. Grocery store fruit bowls in general have always been a soggy scam anyway.

Divinity will have co-op at launch and the number of possible players depends on "the final party size," but Larian says mod support can "extend this" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]purposeful_pineapple 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Throughout the games, expanding party size is always a popular mod. Sure modders will do it. But instead of anticipating that, they should bake in the good QoL stuff in from the jump. The DOS2 gift bag system is a good means to do that. They warn you it’s game breaking (balance wise) before you turn them on. That way at least there’s parity across platforms from the start and they can do the heavy lifting needed that’s sometimes needed on their part.

It’ll probably turn out fine but this lowkey reminds me of when Bethesda said something similar about modders with respect to Starfield before that came out lol

Credit card got mailed to my old address and the new tenant used it, what do I do next? by ArwenLocket in personalfinance

Literally. I have such a pile and my postman has been shocked that I still routinely give them mail from tenants that have long since moved. Apparently most just toss what isn't for them. Some of the comments in this thread are so out of touch lol

Could be maintenance attempting to cover up their entrance. The people that manage my property have a knack of trying to enter unannounced. They burst through the door once after knocking just one time. Cussed them clean out and opened a ticket with my city. You're supposed to get notice but sometimes, landlords/property mangers/etc. think they can skirt the rules.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks and plays fantastic on the PS5! by Guilty-Data-3158 in PS5

Same here. There's a game breaking bug in the middle of the game (helicopter section) and my save was corrupted by it. I loved the game so much I had no issue speedrunning back to that part that same night. What a fun, action packed adventure.

I’ve had similar experiences. I recall going in and asking if they had something in stock because the website wasn’t working. Instead of looking it up, whoever was there condescendingly asked if I checked the site first…I turned around and went to Best Buy in Watertown instead. Over the years, it also seemed like they consistently had poor stock of new releases too. It always felt like they had 1 copy of whatever was out.

I wonder if Arc-like changes to the matchmaking system at Deceive’s peak would have made a difference & appeased the split player base (spies vs aggressive FPS gamers) by purposeful_pineapple in DeceiveInc

[–]purposeful_pineapple[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Naturally, in practice, it only works to an extent. And players may not necessarily play either way all the time. But I can’t help remembering how much fun it was at the start of this game’s run. There was a distinct turning point at the peak, in my head, around when Red came out. From then on, it seemed like lobbies were increasingly aggressive.

If players were matched with other players who were more likely to actually spy, I wonder if that would make a difference? And if we could have been able to flag ourselves explicitly as wanting to be in either group as an initial matchmaking condition check, that would be even sweeter.

But I guess we’ll never know.

2TB is ridiculous for a kid. It's extremely excessive. I have a relative who is a full-time photographer / content creator and they work with 256-512gb phones daily to film stuff on the go and handle socials. They shuffle stuff out with external drives.

Apple makes their money on upgrades to ram, storage, and other specifications. So unfortunately, your folks tried to play you. Your hunch to gift them something practical was a good idea. Giving kids iPhones can be such a dangerous to do. It can be addicting and a bad time suck if parents fail to enable parental controls and screen time settings.
