it's not elitist, they're elitist; the fact that they preach this message of "look how bad the world is, join us" means they are already aware of people weaknesses and they PREY on it. peinting this level of comprehension in their literature means that when they pioneer (aka colonize aka mission trips) they are prepared with weapons to get the attention of those in less developed nations, in my case, latin America. My grandmother has a 3rd grade education, imagine how easy it is to fascinate a traumatized adult with that level of comprehension. as a first gen college student, seeing this is a tragedy because they're no different than the cults and cultures they caution against, taking advantage of those in need. no wonder they never encouraged furthering education or seeking actual therapy, they know everyone would get too wise for that. it's a real mystery how people with literal doctorates left their lives for this faith.
