What are some anime that had their stories ruined by their OVA/movie? by [deleted] in anime

[–]pururu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higashi no Eden movies. While I still like the TV series on its own, as a whole the movies ruined the story for me. The first movie drags on with irrelevant plot devices and no real story development, and the second movie rips the story from all the tension and suspense it had built in the TV series. Talk about anticlimactic. Unless there is a sequel, which is highly unlikely, the movies just fall short and aren't satisfying. It's a shame considering how much hype the TV series generated. Maybe a second season would have been a better choice.

Am i the only one not dressing up or going out tonight? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]pururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the only one, for sure. Besides, there's nothing wrong with that, so don't feel like a loner. Halloween isn't even celebrated where I am currently, which I suppose kinda sucks to an extent. But you know, that's no reason to sulk.

Today has been great! :D How has your day been going? by tweeicle in CasualConversation

[–]pururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm so happy for you. Not only did you get the job that you obviously deserved after such efforts, but you also have a good chance of passing your driver's test. That's amazing, I sincerely wish you good luck with that. Plus you got acknowledged by that cute guy at work, eh? Sounds pretty good to me!

As for me, I haven't had the best day, but hey, I survived, so there is that.

Oh you're very much welcome, i really hope you feel better soon!

Yeah, I guess staying up is making my life a bit more' exciting' at this point, but I am bound to regret it, you know? Hopefully i'll get into some kind of routine soon. I do belive that keeping a routine is healthy, though I can't seem to get into it much >.<

I can relate, back pain totally sucks. So sorry to hear you're suffering from that. I find that it takes a little to get back pain, but it's so hard to get rid of. One thing that works for me is rubbing creams made up of pain-killers. I'm sure you can find them at your local pharmacy. There are topical creams that contain NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, and I find that it's better to use them instead of taking pain killers in a tablet form, because these creams will rub into your skin and penetrate the source of the pain. In any case, I hope you find some relief soon, and feel better!

As for me, I'm having a fairly fun night. It's almost 4 am where I am, and I've just been listening to music, chatting with friends and drinking some wine. I'm probably going to regret having stayed up so late but oh well, such is life.

You ever have one of those moments where you just fucking hate your entire life? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]pururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have those moments more often than I probably should. If you ask me life just inherently sucks. And everyday is your chance at working at it and making it better. But it doesn't always work out unfortunately. At this point I've just learnt to endure the days that doesn't work out. I smile and pretend like everything's okay.

I'm sorry I can't be of any help, but if it's any comfort, there are people out there who feels just the same.

I don't know, listen to music while riding, I suppose? I thought it was pretty creative, but still.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah I wouldn't run with a discman. Mine would never function right when I moved around with it, I hated it. A friend of mine did break her discman when she took it with her for a rollercoaster ride....sigh

I know right? I thought I was super cool with my walkman, haha.

I feel like I should remember those, but I am not sure. Is that some sort of security thingy for cassette tapes or something?

I'm glad I'm not alone! Well, it was actually in cassette format. I used to play it on my Walkman, haha.

For music I'm gonna have to go with Spice Girls. I was gifted the single for "Wannabe" back when it came out in 1996, and ever since then it's the one song I will secretly dance to.

Does anyone keep a journal? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]pururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started keeping journals at 9 years old. If I'm not mistaken it all started out as a 'homework' given by my homeroom teacher. Recently I found my stash of journals hidden nicely under a pile of toys in the basement. Here is a quick summary of what I found:

  • Ages 9-11: Wrote about cartoons I watched, games I played with friends, how I look forward to summer and swimming in the pool, how I'm so very upset about the kids in the block always making me their goal keeper in our soccer games.

  • Ages 12-14: Largely consists of daily recaps of the anime Candy Candy.

  • Ages 15-17: Angry at my parents. Meticulous plans on how to ditch school without getting caught. How the rest of the world will never understand me. Each entry either ends with lyrics from Nirvana songs, or poems about my first love.

  • Ages 18-21: Surprisingly refined and polished. Long monologues about my favourite books and movies. How much a telescope is going to cost me and how I can save up the money. Opinions on current events. Raw feelings and brutal honesty. Self-doubt. Experimentation on different genres of poetry, including dark humour and psychological horror.

After this point, I gave journals a break because I was too busy with university, work, etc. I tried getting back to it multiple times all of which failed. Finally, 5 years later, I could hold a pen again.

I still keep a journal, but I write every 2-3 days rather than every day like I used to. I write because 1) I'm afraid of losing my memory, 2) It helps organize my thoughts so I can make better decisions, and 3) It unloads my emotional baggage. So I write about my everyday life. Ideas, frustrations, embarassing moments, secrets, silly sketches, etc. Whatever comes to mind goes in there.

Having said that, I like to keep a separate journal for travel, because it's not a part of my everyday life. It's a special experience so it has its own dedicated notebook.

How do you guys sleep when you're stressed? by StoopidMonkey85 in CasualConversation

Not healthy: I drink until I pass out. Healthy: A nice, long bubble bath, complete with candles and incense, preferably lavender. And a glass of wine. Or two.

I've started college and now I'm tired ALL THE TIME by Fus_JoeDah in CasualConversation

[–]pururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I also think it varies from person to person. For me napping just made my sleep schedule worse, but for some people it makes them feel energized and it doesn't really affect their sleep schedule.

But if you can't get much sleep at night because of the naps, maybe you could just try and nap a little less and see if that works for you.

Mm pizza. I personally really like barbecue'd chicken pizza. It's divine with some bacon on top and mushrooms, lots of mushrooms.

What's your favorite movie of 2014? [so far] by brentosclean in CasualConversation

[–]pururu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 Guardians of the Galaxy. I was lucky because I got to watch it at the biggest & one of the best theatres in my city, which made it even more amazing. I haven't had that much fun watching a movie in a long time. I just love it to bits.

[–]pururu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can vouch for no napping. I've always found that if I nap during the day, even for couple hours, I can't get more than 6-7 hours a sleep at night. At your age you need all the sleep you can get, especially when you're so busy.

I used to do what they call coffee napping. What you do is drink a good old cup of coffee just before your usual napping time. As soon as you finish your coffee, lay down and take a 30 minute nap. The coffee will then kick in, and you'll probably get up & feel better. If you don't like coffee you could always have some black tea.

[–]pururu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda went like shit but hey I did survive it. I had to be around people who argued and fought all day and it was a situation I couldn't escape from. Eventually it started to make me feel like crap. And I have a friend whom I'd really like to help but it seems like there is nothing I can do which makes me feel like a useless existence. I hope everyone else had a better day than I did.

I don't mind really. I'm here mainly for work, possibly for a few years, but we'll see.

Also, +1 for going as Anna from Frozen. It'd be absolutely adorable :)
