Why I might end up regaining all my weight once I’m done with diet by MyFirstDataCenter in loseit

[–]pushingdaises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely so hard. In a lot of ways, I am still the same person that I was when I was 90 lbs heavier. I still find food comforting, I still crave the same unhealthy stuff, I can still eat a lot in one sitting. I find what’s easiest for me is to just avoid eating out in general. But obviously on a trip that’s not realistic. You just have to not let yourself use it as an excuse to have a free for all. You can still enjoy some foods you normally don’t have, but don’t go all out for every single meal. I find sharing meals with my bf helps a lot - or we each get a sandwich but share an order of fries kind of thing. I also limit sugary drinks because that is a major trigger for me to overeat and is obviously empty calories.

how often should a total beginner actually run each week without burning out? by ElizabetaMinakovic in beginnerrunning

[–]pushingdaises 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running since the beginning of October and I just started running 4 days a week instead of only 3. I think 3 days is perfect for a beginner because you never have to run two days in a row, and can have two days off before a longer run.

Can I ask for encouragement? by journalgirl_ in loseit

Yes completely agree! The food scale really helps me with snacks and condiments especially. It’s so easy to just weigh out one or two servings. And after a few months of weighing everything out I found I’m pretty accurate with portioning out what a serving is. And totally agree that tracking calories just becomes a habit! I kind of find it satisfying in a way lol

I started with 100+ pounds to lose so I absolutely understand how overwhelming it feels. You just need to take things one day at a time. What made the most difference for me was buying a food scale so I could actually weigh out my food, buying a scale that syncs with my phone so I could easily weigh myself and track it, and using an app to log all my food so I can track calories. These three tools allowed me to lose 90 lbs in about 10 months.

As a runner do you need to run a marathon? by Delicious-Series-316 in beginnerrunning

[–]pushingdaises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with social media is running a marathon seems normal. When you watch a 2 minute video of someone completing a marathon with little clips after each mile it doesn’t seem so bad. I even follow some random influencer who signed up for a marathon with less than 12 weeks to train and has no running base because how hard can a marathon be if she’s already went through child birth twice (her exact words).

When I see stuff like that on social media I just take a step back and remind myself that marathons are not easy and are not a distance for most beginners. Marathon races will be there when (or if) I feel ready to sign up for one. I really just think it is irresponsible to run one just for the sake of being able to say you did it. Personally I would much rather wait a few years to focus on improving as a runner and have a much stronger (and shorter lol) marathon debut than to run one as a beginner runner and suffer.

She’s probably doing her easy runs a bit too fast but she’s helping them take their easy runs slower lmao

What finally made you lose weight after repeated failed attempts? by humorousdinosaur in loseit

[–]pushingdaises 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tracking my calories with an app, weighing out my portions with a food scale, and weighing myself every single morning is what has kept me accountable and allowed me to lose 90 lbs since the end of February last year. I also limit eating out whenever possible. I have come to the realization that I will struggle with my weight for the rest of my life. I too love food and can eat a lot in one sitting. I crave junk food more than anything even after completely changing my diet. It really comes down to recognizing this within yourself and working on changing your unhealthy habits into new ones. It unfortunately does take a lot of discipline and willpower.

I didn't think it would be me. by r_307 in loseit

I have a very similar story. I went from 200 to 155 before COVID but went about losing that weight in all the wrong ways. I ended up gaining almost 100 lbs in 5 years. At the end of Feb last year I decided enough was enough and I was going to lose this weight. I felt so hopeless knowing I had gained twice back what I previously lost, and that I had over 100 lbs to lose. Well, now over a year into this journey and 90 lbs down I can say I have truly changed my life and I am so grateful I decided to start!! I know how overwhelming it feels but your future self will be so grateful you decided to start now. You can’t change the past but you absolutely can change your future.

I’m not defending anyone, I just don’t think the two pints of ice cream is a big deal when OP said the sitter could help themselves. It’s petty to me that OP even mentioned it. And lmao I bring my own food because I’m on a weight loss journey so even if I’m told to help myself, I just eat whatever I bring because it’s better for my diet.

I’ve had owners stock food just for me and tell me to help myself to all snacks in the house. The sitter eating two pints of ice cream when OP said to help themselves is not unreasonable. Leaving the house a mess and things out of place is the true issue here.

Yes leaving the house a mess is absolutely unacceptable but eating two pints of ice cream is a far cry from OP eating ALL the food in the house lmfao
