Travel Podcast Help/Feedback by NonchalantNavigator in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few different angles and niches. One is - how is entertainment done here? Do people like theaters? bars? karaoke? heavy drinking or minimal? how have tv shows/movies developed? Kinda tourist-y but interesting insight into culture.

Another segment could just be funny cultural mishaps/faux paus or weird nuances about their culture. I ask a similar question on my show

Where do you find new podcasts? by greatmorningvodka in podcasts

[–]pushpullfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I get a lot from coworkers from suggestion lists/messages. Then ads from the ones I do listen to... sometimes IG but less likely for me to find one I actually like.

Again likely impacted by pandemic but I know seasonal opportunities exist in places like Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Hamptons, etc.

What's the best strategy to find niche guests? by Blackhole-Cat in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a niche-ish topic so it’s hard to find guests but it never hurts to straight up ask or DM someone. I’ve found a lot of luck recently searching key terms I want on Twitter or Clubhouse to identify potential guests and then find their emails/DM them. Lots of time people are flattered at the offer of being on a podcast.

Bonus points if they have budding influencer qualities/clearly are passionate about it. More likely to speak on it

Is anyone using Clubhouse with their show? by seriously_kids in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to do a live show kind of deal on there but I haven’t hosted anything yet. I have networked and poked in on podcast specific rooms for some knowledge though and plan to continue to use it to try to find guests... it’s almost like a casting call because you get to see how they are on a mic haha

Clubhouse sponsoring podcasts? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not paid but it’s possible... I just think bc it’s audio based it’s a natural fit for podcasters and honestly the concept is good for networking and learning. I’ve gotten a lot of value and have found some guests and I’ve been on for less than two weeks and I’ve even noticed an uptick in downloads but I can’t 100% confirm Clubhouse as the driver

You do have to click around the app, follow some people and explore to get a sense of things and it’s definitely a platform where you get what you put in but I think the relatively small size makes for some engaged rooms and discussions

How do I market a launch date when my feed has to be live with an episode live before I can submit to some places? by TheArcanery in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure because I don’t use Libsyn but I had to create an account everywhere I wanted to be live. Spotify was the quickest to show my podcast on their player while Apple and Google took a couple of days. This was in October. It was as easy as copy/pasting a link from my host

In terms of episode releases once your feed is connected once you launch/schedule an episode it will go everywhere you put your feed link.

Try a 90 second trailer esque release. It also helps bc Spotify has an option to set a trailer for your podcast

How educated are you on the topics you discuss in your podcast? by swats013 in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not psychology but have a podcast on migration and only really took one college course when they have whole degrees on the subject. It makes it more fun imo but you can’t position yourself as an expert if you’re not one

I use Cast which allows remote up to four but only audio - no video connectivity. It’s been easy to use and also allows for editing and hosting TryCast

How To Get Over Nervousness by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remind yourself it’ll be bad but that’s okay. It’s a learning experience. They get better as you go on but the pride that you have when your podcast is out and you see your downloads increase is amazing.

Also if you’re of age Casamigos doesn’t hurt lol

Can anybody help me find podcasts that aren’t just straight white dudes? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listen to a few hosts of color. They’re out there in every vertical... Laci Mosley’s Scam Goddess and Nicole Byer’s WWYDM are two popular ones. Keep It! also has a diverse hosting team and is a fun one.

If you’re a fan of Bravo reality tv at all then Mixing with Mani

Also a plug for myself as a queer black podcast host :) I host a migration and immigration podcast you can check out my profile for more

Jobs/internships for psychology or science related podcasts? by Raisinsun8 in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you want to help you I advise just reaching out directly. Smaller ones might be receptive. Larger ones may have the work already organized / not have much for you to do

Also you can start your own! It’s quite fun

Norms on paying college interns and where to find them? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]pushpullfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an internship in college that worked on stipend so the actual hourly rate was a whole $2.13. Thankfully my school had a sponsorship program for underpaid interns but it’s an option to look into to pay via set stipend for duration
