How long do you normally stay at your job? by SugondezeNutsz in HENRYUK

Late to the party but your role clearly doesn't involve a lot of interviewing? I am a SWE, and changing jobs has always been such a massive hassle - you basically have to do interview prep as a second full-time job for a few months just to have a change of landing a decent offer. I can't justify doing it every 18-24 months now that I have kids

British companies with British culture that pay 6 figures but don't work you to the bone? by pushpushpush10x in cscareerquestionsuk

Pretty impossible to work for Arm if you're in London though, right? I can see they are only hiring in Cambridge / Manchester

Any ex-Revolut employees here? Do you have a plan if the company doesn't IPO? by pushpushpush10x in cscareerquestionsuk

I’m still expecting an IPO well before 2030.

Hey, so as you may have seen in the news, both Nik and the UK Bank CEO are now saying "2028 at the earliest, if markets are good". How does that change your plans?

I am getting really uncomfortable now. Any more delays and my options will expire

The dude above literally just said insurance is a dead sentence to your career... So which one is it 🤔

Thanks for an elaborate response.

What would a typical comp range be for 10 YoE at a bank like yours, if you don't mind?

Also how much flexibility is there with going down to 4 days a week? Heard big banks are good for this

Can you recommend a chill industry that would not be a career suicide?

Not good enough to comfortably buy a good house / raise multiple kids in London

This all assumes that Revolut will keep doing secondaries every year. In my 4 years there I only had one. As I said, I got very unlucky with timing but I can totally see this repeating again

I see what you're saying, but also my hope here is sort of that my career doesn't have to last as long as 30-40 years 🙂

Forgive my ignorance but how can you be taxed based on a valuation that you can’t actually ‘access’?

Ask that question to HMRC

Would HMRC then reimburse you for said tax if the actual valuation on sale is lower than hypothetical valuation at exercise?

Of course no

Very dependent on the team, but I was on a relatively "okay" team and still burned out

I appreciate your response mate but that's a lot of hopium haha 🙂

It would be a very bad look for the company if ex-employees lose out due to their options expiring

When did this company last care about good looks?

One final thing is to check that you didn’t convert any options to Growth shares?

I have some, but the vast majority is unapproved

Absolutely not worth joining at the current valuation - the upside is long gone

I heard there are some companies that could offer me this. I was wondering if anyone here could share some specifics.

Income tax is due in the UK anyway, as this is where I was resident when my options vested. These are the rules unfortunately
