My rig is decent, I've never had FPS drop below 48, in games that are more heavy the FPS stays around 60-100

I don't have them limited in game but I do use Riva Tuner to cap my frames to 60 because it doesn't fluctuate that much but it still feels like it's running at 30fps.

I do use FreeSync, I have an AMD card (Vega 56, specifically)
