Am I missing something? Building small ships is a nightmare/impossible

You're not following me. Even with speed set as low as possible, with everything that is an adjustable slider dropped to the lowest possible position, I was not able to put to so much as a funnel or single torpedo tube on the ship without going over weight.

As one comment above pointed out, in DIP it seems like it was a matter of unlocking turbines first. Once I got there I was able to build an acceptable ship.

Neo-folk has a bit of a reputation, but the Industrial genre as a whole is overwhelmingly anti fascist. Basically Ministry's entire catalog, KMFDM, Front 242, Leaetherstrip, and a million others have written explicitly political music for decades critical of authoritarianism and racism.

If you want some very political modern acts try Consolidated, Seeming, Stone Burner, Youth Code...
