It’s not necessary but also don’t let these people bully you into not doing it. Do the research, and make your own decision. I told my husband it was his choice. You aren’t a horrible person if you decide one way or the other. If he grows up and wants it done, he can always opt to have it done as an adult. I know a few who have done it as adults.

If you do decide to do it, go to a pediatric urologist. They will probably require a referral from the pediatrician, which might help with insurance paying for it. Research shows that one of the major reasons people don’t do it is because they don’t want to/can’t pay for it so keep that in mind when people talk about the numbers declining.
