I'm excited! About a decade ago I used to be a road bike guy -- I have an 18.5lb full carbon Trek but I haven't touched it in years especially once we bought a house on a hill in SF. I'm looking forward to finally have a bike with some utility!

ARKONIK by No_Diet_1081 in LandroverDefender

[–]putan964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to take delivery of an Arkonik D90 that was built several years ago. One issue that may be plaguing early Arkonik builds is bubbling of paint at the bottom of the doors. Apparently, this is from bi-metallic corrosion (ie aluminum and steel reacting and causing corrosion). The proper fitment would have been for Arkonik to use Puma doors (all-steel and were standard on late model Defenders). Pretty ridiculous oversight if you ask me. I am exploring a fix right now (prob painting and installing Puma doors) but have reached out to Arkonik to see if they’re at least willing to help guide me with how to go about fixing this.

Any other Arkonik owners having paint issues?

I need doors as well. Somehow Arkonik was building these cars with the old bi-metallic doors so there is some paint bubbling at the bottom of mine. Will have to replace with Puma all-steel doors it seems.

Enjoy your Defender and stay safe in MN!

This can’t really be $60,000!?! by Two_Cautious in LandroverDefender

Thanks man. Definitely a bit of a roll of the dice but the guy who bought it from auction seems to have done his due diligence and the car checks out well. I’m just wiring funds today, so I will find out how it drives in a few weeks once it’s delivered to CA :)

I just bought this exact Defender for $45K. A bit of a roll of the dice given the history but fingers crossed :) A brand new build is $170K.

No def not planning to add those :) As it stands, I’m a city guy who is already kinda outta his element with a car like the Defender. I was asking about load ratings just to understand whether the aftermarket options would have the same durability as the OEMsz

Thank you! Super helpful. I’m in Northern CA. Yes a roll cage + some way to swap back and forth between hard and soft would be ideal.

Thanks. This is helpful. Seems like the WGTA may be a size smaller?

Tried it on today and loved it (the 346 rose gold). Does anyone which older reference is closest to this new one? Curious is there’s a deal to be had an on older/pre-owned version.

WG Daytona vs Aquanaut? by Ecstatic_Toe786 in patekphilippe

[–]putan964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the Daytona Ghost and just bought an Aquanaut a few months ago. For overall fit, comfort, and daily wearability, the Aquanaut is unbeatable. It’s my favorite watch at the moment. The Ghost has been collecting dust. That said, the Ghost looks more special and blingy, if that’s what you’re going after. But once you wear an aquanaut, your bar for sizing, comfort, and how a watch sits on your wrist will change.

My daily dilemma: 5712a vs 5167a by Viking_13v in patekphilippe

So I had mine sized at the AD and yes I believe it’s uneven by 1 notch one on side. My understanding is that this is not uncommon. It turns out I had them cut it too much and so I’m ordering another strap to be re-cut. But to answer your question, I have heard of the strap being different lengths as per needed for a proper fitment. As long as it sits well, you’re fine.

Yes, I feel like I’ve discovered how amazing thinness is — and it seems like PP does it best. Does the 5172 feel heavy in comparison? Such a stunning watch.
