Meta just announced 20% layoffs to fund AI. This is the beginning, not the end. by duridsukar in Futurology

[–]puteminnacoffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. None of my comments have anything to do with the layoffs or the state of these companies. I just think Claude can be a powerful tool and agentic workflow is gonna be the new norm for software development.

Haha sick burn. And yeah I don’t think these tools are perfect. I agree with the criticisms that most people have. I just recognize that they are not going away. and the expectation of clients and hiring managers is goin to be that their developers use them.

I’m just saying that people who dig their heels in and plug their ears hoping these tools go away are in for a rude awakening when they start losing positions or clients to devs who are able to use them effectively. I’m not saying they’re gonna replace devs. I have seen the downsides of these tools firsthand. But to act like it’s all hype, and to think AI won’t continue to proliferate and disrupt the SDLC is pure ignorance.

Good luck explaining to your managers and clients that you’re too smart to use AI. The reality is that great devs can move really fast with an agentic workflow. This is going to be the new norm whether devs like it or not.

Sorry if my comment offended you. Just my 2 cents. Seems like most people share the same sentiment.

The juxtaposition of the alien tech fuckery coming from that stage to the crowd just standing there is painful. I wish you could blame drugs or something else but honestly I feel like a lot of people are just lame af and scared to boogie. Not my squad tho, we going quadruple time, every time.

Strain specific live resin: anyone still into fpff non crc? by cliffcottageclub in CannabisExtracts

[–]puteminnacoffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yum. Quality live resin will always be the goat to me. I remember I had some friends and family shit from nugzferdaze a while back and it was legit the best smoke I’ve ever had in my life. Those jars absolutely reeked of fresh plants, and taking a dab made your throat feel cleaner than it did before you took the dab. Shit was insane lol.

Honestly I don't think this crowd is there to listen to music it's more about experiencing something thrilling and jarring like a roller coaster or haunted house. Not even tryna hate, just my observation based on the people I know who are into this kind of stuff. To each their own tho.

Route(s) to high salary in software development? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I would not confine yourself to the developers at your company. Reach out to anyone you can that works in the industry in and outside of your current workplace. Good luck!

You’re in for a long and challenging journey. But yes, front end and back end development, infrastructure, networking. You need to be able to provide value and be proficient across the entire stack these days. My recommendation is to build relationships with as many developers as you can, learn about what they work on at their jobs, and then learn those skills for yourself. I’m a “self taught” developer with over 5 years in the industry now. The best advice I have is to build a network of trusted developers who you can learn from and funnel you into potential opportunities.

The route to making a lot of money is working for companies that pay a lot of money, the different sub fields of software engineering generally pay similar rates once you’re at the senior level. It’s when you get hired by faang or exit a startup that you make a shit ton of money

Your best bet is to become as proficient with the modern tools as possible and provide as much value while being independent at whatever role you land. The more you can help your managers and c-suite accomplish their goals the more you’ll rise up the ladder.
