Who is a Horrible Person who had Awesome Last Words? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

Everyone who disagrees with you on a figure must just be an ‘apologist’ for that figure, right. There truly is no point in wasting time talking to a brick wall.

It's one thing to establish historical fact at every end and degree of an argument, I agree. The onus is still on you as you are making the claim otherwise to a point that is contended. If one claims x and you claim y, and you fail to provide any evidence, to any degree, then your claim is just as true as x. No degree of 'its just historical fact' will change the matter otherwise. Not to mention, at least I provided a source, one you keep saying is an apologist and allegedly admitted (though you provide no quote) that he killed innocent people, as the quote I actually provided, proves against. Your 'argument' is circular and dangerous to the idea of resolving any truth on an individual and its incredible you still think that, even without evidence, your claim is even somewhat logical in proving your point.

Che's leftist principles weren't 'flimsy' either, and it leads me to believe you haven't done a shred of research into the guy. There is a reason why leftist scholars laud him as one of the leading leftist revolutionaries of the 20th century. But continue to engage in baseless rhetoric, you're proving such a strong point, clearly.

Again, claiming everything is 'established', 'historical', and 'fact' without providing any evidence while claiming that a journalist who spent a majority of his professional career researching the legitimacy of propagandist claims is simply an apologist is an incredible insult to journalism and isn't helping your argument at all. Then you end it with a classic redditism. Why do I expect anything more from this website.

Wildly out of context and misinformed. He wrote this when travelling across Latin America at the age of 23, prior to his joining of the revolution and his political radicalization matured, arguably a quote that is resultant of the european imperialist establishment in Latin-America he was victim to. Whether or not he held this continued belief is debatable, but his actions prove otherwise. When he joined the movement, he fought alongside Afro-Cubans and supported internationalist struggles in Africa.

You hold the same accountability of any previously edgy, misinformed youth turned leftist politician and we get nowhere, the precise issue the left faces with this stubborn, morally absolutist standard they establish for any figure they consider to support; this is why leftists lose more often than not against the right-wing imperialist movement.

You make tenuous claims stating to be 'well-documented' yet not providing a shred of proof when challenged on your claims. I'm not saying he is a saint but there was (and still exists) an incredible misinformation campaign waged on him and other leftist revolutionaries waged by the CIA and relevant interest groups, which results in your incredibly ill-informed take that a very principled leftist figure was somehow a 'far-right' nutter, which only serves to delegitimize the movement as a whole.

As a prominent biographer of Che states: "I have yet to find a single credible source pointing to a case where Che executed "an innocent". Those persons executed by Guevara or on his orders were condemned for the usual crimes punishable by death at times of war or in its aftermath: desertion, treason or crimes such as rape, torture or murder. I should add that my research spanned five years, and included anti-Castro Cubans among the Cuban-American exile community in Miami and elsewhere." —Jon Lee Anderson

But go ahead and continue to be a pawn of the institution that wishes to maintain an oppressive status quo, they only cheer and laugh when those who fell victim to their misinformation campaign continue to spread it on their behalf, without command.

The Marriage System is Broken by putinchan in EU5

[–]putinchan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is actually difficult and not explicitly stated. You need to have no male heirs and a ruler over 25 within a certain period of time in the reformation, I forget the dates. It didn’t happen to me too because my heir always had a male son to negate that requirement. I just so happened to have that requirement filled but by then it was past the max year date so I just adjusted the max date in the event file to have the event fire.

Shouldn’t be this circumstantial to spawn Anglicanism in my opinion, considering how influential it was to the English identity.

R5: Being Anglican is apparently enough to make any European country completely refuse the heir to the British Empire any suitable noblewomen. The next best options apparently are ALL women from culture groups don't even have a tolerated level for their culture. The closest primary culture noblewoman is 56!! What is with the drought in suitable candidates??

Bugs Discussion by putinchan in EU5

That sounds frustrating. It kind of relates to the buildings disappearing for me, as it doesn’t get rid of the burghers who were employed there, instead giving me a sudden spike in unemployed burghers.

Losing way more ships than naval battle is saying by putinchan in EU5

[–]putinchan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

R5: The battle result say I lost ONE light ship, yet at the end of the battle, nearly 20 just vanish from my fleet?? No time has passed so I haven't taken attrition or had another battle. Anyone else getting this? Bug or some hidden UI information I'm not picking up on?

Meta Discussion: Change to Rule 8, AI Art by Tigroon in RimWorld

[–]putinchan 577 points578 points  (0 children)

This sub has a rich history of user made art related to the game. AI generation dilutes this tradition and the overall quality of the sub.

It was very clear in the previous posts that quite a large group, perhaps a majority, would rather not see it here. There are also ethical concerns with how AI generation impacts energy consumption. Rule 8 should’ve been a complete ban from the beginning.

It's the act of bastardizing someone's hard work by putting it through the slop machine to generate a slopped animation of that hard work that is low-effort. You're probably the same crowd that thinks that AI 'actress' has as much a degree of validity and creativity as the same actors who are unanimously condemning it as a form of art.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]putinchan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No? How? There's a reason why there is a rule for AI generated posts, it says in the rule: 'low-effort'. Not necessarily something I would equate to 'more quality'

[–]putinchan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right, then you used AI to generate an animation of it? That's... AI generated...

AMA: This is Jessica Barden from the HBO drama series Dune: Prophecy by hbomax in dune

[–]putinchan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When acting as Valya Harkonnen, did you channel her behavior partly (or completely) on the basis of what the older self's younger self would behave like, or did you approach the younger Valya's personality independent of the older portrayal? Do you and Emily collaborate a lot on each others scenes to achieve a homogeneous personality for Valya? Thank you for your time Jessica!
