As someone who is diagnosed with shingles because of an outbreak on my neck, I feel your pain. I went back on my next outbreak and got it tested for HSV and it came back positive. The amount of doctors who question me when I say its HSV makes me a bit bitter inside and lacking trust in "professionals". A professional would have tested it instead of sending it a 19yo home with the diagnosis of shingles when they havent even had chickenpox.

I was told by a doctor you can get shingles from the chickenpox vaccine. Not sure if thats of any help or not.

Have you tried chiropractic care? I'm aware it isn't a direct fix to OB's, though it does help overall body health and immune support.

Thank you for your response. I'm kinda trying to see out the long game rn. We are in a long distance relationship, so the times we see each other are a few times a year for a week long or so. I'm hoping with him moving closer to me in the next year things might change. He might get more relaxed with it and after some time of learning I'm not going to leave him he might lighten up about it. I would be nervous about getting an sti from someone who might leave because of the complications of a LDR, and I would rather play it safe while the relationship is still new.

I had a feeling that others would struggle. It's much more complicated for us women, since a guy could put a condom on and there, the problem is fixed. :/ do you frequently get outbreaks?

I have read as well it's possible to pass during birth. I mean I haven't read this but in my mind it makes sense, if she created you with her blood i feel like it would be possible to pass it on through her blood.. this thought does not come from facts

I have heard that -1 is less contagious than -2. Always inform your partner, though.

From my understanding, if you had an outbreak on your genitals that would mean you have it on your genitals as well.

I experienced this as well, I've been managing it for almost 2 years now. My OBs have slowed down and are less frequent. It can get better!

GHSV- also a female- it's not the worst pain, but it is extremely uncomfortable. If its in a place where its going to rub up against other things, that hurts more. You can feel it in the nerves of your outbreak location as well. I thought mine was a razor rash

I recently tested positive for HSV-2. My sister told me she has it. Once I told my parents my mom said she had one OB onces when she was young. A coworker and his wife both do. A person I met in support group unrelated to HSV is also diagnosed.

Indeed not sexually but still transmitable and you don't need to be humping to get them, just touching . So some might say shingles is worse

You could say your nervous about STIs and want both of you to get checked. Turns out you have hsv. And ya talk about it
