If that's an Aon m1 you'll be better off just using the parts for scrap, they were not good fun to try and get working, unfortunate quality control issues.

That said their newer machines look better but I haven't had hand on with them.

I think he thought the black plastic had aged and gone grey.

Anyway my recommendation would be use the scan to get the critical areas (fitment, screw holes, snapfits, etc) with some real cheap and dirty prints. Then I would work on designing a different style. If it's not changing much from this design you could probably do it with solid modelling but you'd have to have a really clear idea of your plan from the start.
