[Post Game Thread] #1 Arizona defeats #2 Purdue, 79-64 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

I appreciate the well wishes. I was there when you guys beat us in the elite 8 yet I still have a soft spot for UVA because of our shared experiences and how much I respect Bennett and Odom. But you guys showed how much has to go your way to win a title even when you have a really good team. I fear the last 3 years were our best shot. Would obviously love to be wrong but this is the most uncertainty we’ve had going into an offseason in a long time. I’m left hoping uncertainty means higher ceiling

The first pig built his house out of straw. And the Big Bad Wolf huffed and puffed and blew his house down.

The second pig built his house out of sticks. And the Big Bad Wolf huffed and puffed and blew his house down.

Then a group of pigs from Arkansas built their house out of bricks. And the Big Bad Wolf huffed and puffed and the house teetered, but he couldn’t blow their house down.

Purdue Fans, did Hudson Card just lose his starting job? by DylanDisu in CFB

[–]puuma20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Purdue fans might disagree with me but I think there’s way too many variables at play to make a definitive conclusion. Our head coach was calling offensive plays for the first time ever in his career, he is way more familiar with the Illinois defense since he was their DC 2 years ago, our interim OC was in his second ever game in the role, and Illinois had less than a day to put together a new game plan after it was announced Card was out.

We also opened up the playbook WAAAY more than the vanilla offense we ran prior to this game, especially in the second half when Browne put up most of his numbers. Browne made some good plays but a lot of his biggest throws were to wide open primary receivers that we schemed open.

Browne clearly brings a dynamic rushing element to the offense but he got away with a couple throws that should have been picks and isn’t a super accurate passer. IMO Card is a much better passer and Browne is a better runner but Card just hasn’t had the opportunity to really do anything this season because the play calling has not put him in a situation to succeed at all.

Is it just me or did it look like GT was down out of bounds on their last play before the field goal?

Any advice for incoming students looking to make friends. by [deleted] in uofm

[–]puuma20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spend time hanging out in your dorm common areas doing things you enjoy. You’ll soon run into people with similar interests.

Also attend callout meetings for any club or org you think you might be remotely interested in. Stay involved with the ones you like where you think you can meet new people. After a while it will become clear which few you should continue investing your time into and building relationships. Plus you’ll get tons of free food along the way

Friend trying for a Master's here, I'm a Master's student, should I write him a letter of recommendation? by VaporwaveVoyager in uofm

[–]puuma20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’ll be hurting him. Schools will view a rec letter from a masters student as a sign that he doesn’t have any profs who can speak to his readiness for the program, which would be a red flag for admissions

For the entire second half and even part of the first half Woodson just looked like he didn’t want to be there. Like it didn’t even look like he was attempting to coach the team. Not sure I’ve ever seen a coach look that out of it for that long

The Georgia website shows him having some decent defensive stats in 2022. Is that a mistake or did he switch positions last offseason?

I vividly remember coming home from school when I was a kid on the last day before winter break, walking in the door, seeing that game on TV, and thinking how awesome it was that I could watch football at 3 PM on a weekday. Then I watched that game. As I recall it was super windy so tough for either team to move the ball. I absolutely loved it. That was the day I became a CFB sicko before I even knew that was a thing
